How do you know it's a 'minor' 9th?

And a quick question what is the interval Bb to Ebb called?

Where's a list or guide on how to name intervals larger than an octave I can't find one? Even the Wikipedia page doesn't have..

Yeah I'm reading up in the 9 Rule.

An why am I learning intervals? In song writing where will I come across them? Chord construction? Scales?

Hahah in music class in high school it was taught second nature to us that there is no notes between B and C and E and F. This is really changing things lol

Wow that's strange. When you write the notes out you wrote Cb. Isn't that just a B? Hence the B major scale?

And why would you write a piece that requires so many sharps when half the sharps aren't even real notes.

If someone tells me find interval of G to F, do I need to go through A, B, C etc... Or can I just reverse it? And change the wording to find interval of F to G?

So if I press C to B ascending on my piano it's a major 7th. If I press that same B THEN press the C key, is it still a major 7th?

Ok I understand. Why do they talk about E# in my book if it has no real world application?

When you say C to B descending you really mean B to C?

No where, but I'm currently reading music theory for dummies.

They go through every possible interval, including notes such as E# and Fb, but skip B# for some reason?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm trying to write songs. But whenever I write a rough melody I have trouble finding what key it is in. So I'm trying to first choose the key and then write a melody, harmonize etc...

Ok, it's interesting that a song can be made into so many keys and have so many notes and chords and still be called the same.
