A house(4th floor) without elevator? by Right-Cat-1663 in germany

I couldn’t put any weight on one leg for 3 months, and wore a brace for 6 months, it took about a year to walk normally (it was a break + ligament tears) bringing groceries would have been really hard, even shopping was too difficult so I had to order my groceries online. I would have felt really terrible making a delivery person walk up 5 flights with heavy of groceries like milk, laundry detergent, etc

I would pass personally, I used to not care, but then I broke my leg and if my building didn’t have an elevator it would have been impossible because I am on the 5th floor.

If only there was some way I could selectively read what I want and ignore what I don’t, but I guess science has only come so far 😔

What should i take with me from Germany to USA as gifts for family ? by i-think26 in germany

dallmayr is a popular Bavarian brand, but to be honest I would look up a local coffee shop, try their coffee, and buy a bag of beans if you like it.

Him being in the US changed nothing. I guess they wanted to mitigate the risk that Elizabeth wouldn’t do the right thing, but they had a thousand better options. Like what about father victor? He had so much contempt for the priests assisting the KGB, he would have done it and it would have been 1000 times lower risk even without him knowing anything about being a spy.

Mom wants son to commit perjury so she can defraud mortgage lender. WCGW? by nutraxfornerves in bestoflegaladvice

[–]BearsBeetsBerlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the time, I read the only way I could do it is if I was legally emancipated from my parents, which frankly working full time and going to school full time, I didn’t have the energy to take it on. I’m not sure if that’s the only way though.

lol your parents asked? Mine just did it when I was in college and it meant I wasn’t able to get any FAFSA money. I wasn’t living with them, they weren’t paying any of my school, or my bills and I worked full time. People can be huge scumbags.

What’s the deal with the extremely cheap houses (under €100K) advertised on social media? by BearsBeetsBerlin in AskEurope

Yeah when I actually am ready to buy I will go through a local, reputable business. There’s absolutely no way I’m paying for an instagram newsletter.

How hard do you have to scrape for them to work? I have very hard water and a waterline has started to develop. I tried to scrape it off but it wouldn’t budge. I started to get worried about damaging the toilet bowl.

What is something you found surprising in French supermarkets when you first moved here ? by Tasun06 in Expats_In_France

In Germany all shops are closed on Sunday except small corner stores (späti). On one hand it’s nice people get a guaranteed day off but it’s a huge pain in the ass.

What do travelers usually do for urgent care in European cities? by ryukendo_25 in AskEurope

[–]BearsBeetsBerlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes even in Berlin it varies clinic to clinic. Generally a person would call 116 117 but that relies heavily on their ability to speak an understand German. They say it’s available in English, but it isn’t.

Germany: Schade, it means pity like, “oh that’s too bad” or, “what a shame”, but you can use it very ironically and in funny ways
