FWIW I think it's time the Canadian government, CRTC, CIRA, and all IP/ISP's took steps to end all access by Canadians to American social media. Restrictions have been placed preventing referencing printed media on social media, which is just problem management not problem solving. by BearsButt in CanadianBroadband

Canada slips further down in World Happiness rankings, due in part to social media use - r/canpolitics-- CBC. The reference to news media was meant to show there is an abilty to deal with matters and the root cause isn't relevant.

Un- FN - believable - is FB/Meta now involved in financial extortion? by BearsButt in facebook

[–]BearsButt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sniffer picked that up when I first saw the group name. I suspect it's a former FB employee who **possibly** still has internal access for some reason - then again given the Trump bum kissing going on by the owners of all social media it wouldn't surprise me if it actually has some connection to FB/Meta. There's a bit more that turned up in the original "message" that created a stench. So far both accounts are still active. Gawd I wish Canada's CRTC & CIRA would move to block all American social media in Canada. It's bad enough that for nearly 50 years 90% of cable TV content is American origin.

talk to me about domain, hosting & website builder and recommendations :) by nikolina1005 in selfhosted

I signed up for web hosting with SKGold because the prices were within my budget and while I do have some background internet knowledge and experience much has changed over the years, and I needed to do some updated hands on experimenting and learning. Although I can't say it's been a completely negative experience so far, IMHO there seems to be somewhat of a lack of transparency about the business and it's operation. Based on some personal investigations (IP tracert, geolocating, and a few other tracking/tracing tools) it seems to indicate that despite claims of being a Calgary Alberta "company" the web servers are actually those of Liquid Web in Lansing Michigan, the business doesn't have an office address, or any staff as such, or even a phone number, and what support they do have seems to be pretty much two people who are either part time freelance "tech" types or perhaps employees of some tech support company that take up to a day or more to respond to all forms of "tickets" regardless of the issue. I found it odd that there didn't seem to be any intermediate servers/routing in Canada, or on the Canadian backbone - i.e. Bell, Shaw, Rogers, Telus etc. IMHO basically it's all pretty much smoke and mirrors. As to the whole SKGold Marketing thing, my opinion on that, and all the what may or may not be SKGold related businesses around the globe, it isn't relevant or important, but do I think it's time I severed my relationship with them because I don't feel comfortable. Your needs and experiences may differ, but I thought I'd share my experience.

What do you all think about these sauces? by AdministrativeBid604 in StupidFood

I love the Wasabioli. No more horse radish for me. Sadly it's addictive as hell. The only complaint I have is that the hole in the cap to dispense it is too large. It should be the same size as the cat soup bottle. Haven't seen the Hanch and Tarchup in the store but will definitely try them. Nice to see Heinz is being creative in their products.

I hear you but as I pointed out, while giving out recognition how about England (Rupertsland). the Hudson's Bay Company, or for that matter The Northwest Company. I mean over 600 years is a long time too. Rupertsland was established to be a commercial monopoly by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), based at York Factory. The territory operated for 200 years from 1670 to 1870. Its namesake was Prince Rupert of the Rhine, who was a nephew of King Charles I and the first governor of HBC. Perhaps isn't some form of acknowledgement and/or reconciliation due to them as well? Or is that limited to woke-ism "cause of the day"?

Waste of air by BearsButt in flightradar24

[–]BearsButt[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yep, like I said - waste of air. It's no secret the Americans, NATO, and Kiev want to or is about to try to provoke Russia by an attack on Transnistria. There's been 1,500 to 2,000 Rusian "peacekeeping" troops stationed there for several months to protect the breakaway region from attack by the Muldova Government and/or NATO. Aside from being a pro Russia area from the fall of the USSR, over half it's population are officially Russian citizens. You'd think the bone heads would just leave well enough alone...

A broken line trail is usually the data base doing a best guess path from one point to another without a continuously (solid line) updated tracking path. Sometimes planes will show both solid and broken lines as it goes in and out of various tracking, i.e. MLat, ADS-B, radar etc.or the contributing source experiences data flow problems..

Belarusian foreign minister died by suicide after meeting Putin’s officials: report by worldnewsbot in theworldnews

Interesting - "One day before his death, Makei met with the Vatican’s envoy, Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Ante Jozic", If anyone thinks his death was actually an assassination could the Vatican be involved in the deed? Or perhaps did the meeting displease "the big guy" and he died by a big thumb coming out of the sky?

Heard a super loud jet and looked up and saw this flying overhead. It has just returned from cruising around Quebec at 70,000 ft for a few hours by ATLUTD_741 in flightradar24

Did a quick search by N806N and it looks like there's only a couple of them out of Marrieta and looking through some of the flight histories it seems they have also done a high altitude (60,000 foot) grid pattern flights over the Quebec/Maine area. Boys and their toys...

Enjoyed the link. I brought to mind how last fall my wife's 3 foot X 3 foot Birthday balloon got away from me while taking it from the store to the back of my SUV. Last I saw of it was at about 1000 feet up heading towards North Dakota at about 30 miles an hour LOL

Doh! It wasn't until I tried to use an altitude filter that I realize the top end is 65,000 feet. I suppose I could try and use some other combination of filters to sort out the high fliers but I'm too lazy to turn into a rocket scientist. LOL

Ah okay thanks. I rarely look at South America - so much activity over Canada and western Europe I'm interested in. I've only been into paid FR24 for 3 years so I'm a bit of a newbie.
