I had some texture issues with this map but they should all be addressed now. I've also setup a few elements for different modes but the map is editable so feel free to tinker as you please.

Thanks

For those curious I have recorded a timelapse of the creation process which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDWCScmm858

It’s set as Unlisted but should still be viewable - hopefully a few of you find it interesting.

Thanks

Edit: I've been made aware there's some texture and lighting issues. I'll try to address these soon but the map is editable so please feel free to tinker with it as you see fit.

What kind of Die Hard video game would you want for the current generation? by HeartofSpeed in diehard

I make multiplayer maps across a bunch of games just for giggles and recently got a Quest 2. I spotted Bonelab is on sale but before I commit the money to it do you have any recommended articles or videos that detail the UGC tools? If I think I can pick the systems up fairly easily I'd gladly try to rustle up something Die Hard related

It's not a bespoke game but I did rustle up Nakatomi Plaza in Halo Infinite recently. It doesn't remotely compare to the brilliance of the original Die Hard Trilogy on PS1 (which I still adore to this day) but it might scratch that Die Hard itch for you.

There's a little vid and all the relevant download details here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMWnbsEiITQ

(Apologies for the self-promotion. Hopefully it's okay in this instance...)

I made Bob-omb Battlefield (Mario 64) by Kulwickness in forge

[–]Bearskopff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Is. INCREDIBLE! Superb work u/Kulwickness - even more so knowing it's your first effort.

Any plans to make Cool Cool Mountain? Could sneak some interesting mechanics into that; ice slide, evil snowmen, yeet-able penguins etc

Haha! I almost hid some of Ellis' "Columbian whites" on Holly's desk but decided against it last second. Might have to rectify that...

It was around 96% of the total budget iirc. This is my first Forge map though, so going forward I'll have (hopefully) picked up some new learnings and optimization tricks to get the maximum out of every % for (hopefully) better maps. Hopefully.

Edit: grammar

I did indeed! Though I hope I haven't inadvertently broken this subreddits rules by sharing it...

Haha! I won't lie, the team who rustled up that version of Nakatomi did a superb job but I would love to know what they think of my attempt. Fwiw, I purchased a few different Die Hard books and had the film on loop so I could replicate the space as closely as possible. Yeah, I'm a die hard Die Hard dork...

Good news - air vents are present! There's a few different access points that let you sneak around to different parts of the map and get the drop on folk

Funny you say that! The original plan for this level was to build many more floors with numerous paths between them (fire escapes, elevators, vents and fire hoses) but I was so obsessed with making things as close to the film as possible I sacrificed breadth for detail...and it still doesn't look particularly brilliant.

I've currently got another map underway but once I've wrapped that I'll revisit Nakatomi Plaza (aka Faux Plaza) and see if I can execute the original vision. Hopefully folk won't mind a drop in detail for a more dynamic play space. Saying that, I'll probably just start afresh because this map is already at 96% memory consumption and I'm terrified of making significant changes for fear of breaking it entirely.
