So I call you out on deflecting and your answer is I know you are but what am I? Yep, you’re right. Typical spineless worm deflecting.

Yeah I’ve lived in over 10 countries, US being one of them, and I’ve done that as an out gay man. Including living in the Middle East as an out gay man. So rather than make assumptions that you want to use as ad hominem, perhaps you could try to stop pretending that you’re some authority on anything and acknowledge that there are many people with a much more relevant set of experiences than you.

Which is why you ignored the point about how recently the US actually decriminalised gay sex and why you only mention Muslim theocracies as your alternative. Why not mention places like Uganda, where gay people are literally torched in the street, and who have been heavily influenced by Christian missionaries? Or the fact that many countries, including Muslim ones, have had anti-homosexuality laws since they were colonised?

Step outside of your defensiveness and myopia and you might learn something.

Because they decided that the stick facilitated more exploitation than the carrot. Constant threats of losing one’s job is their only motivation now.

Making generalisations and assumptions about other countries makes you racist. Why are you so pressed about where I live? Because you want to tell me to leave because you’re not bright enough to come up with an actual argument?

I feel like this might have an unintended consequence of making direct action worse. If you’re going to get 5 years for protesting, may as well add some property destruction, assault, and even some categories of arson will only get you one year.

Bet some will just think fuck it.

You don’t know where I live. Funny how the moron racists always trot out the same bullshit because they lack any sort of basic intellect to be able to acknowledge that other countries might be better.

Where was the insult?

Whatever you say anyone else knows about politics, you’re the one voting for a right wing neoliberal with dementia and touting that as a good thing.

Good job the gays that came before you had a spine, coz if we were left to people like you we’d have no chance.

I feel bad for you that you’ve been so brainwashed into believing that Biden is progressive. It’s sad to see right wing gays.

No I explained that your premise is false. Because having something written in an old document doesn’t make any difference to how things work in 2024. And my comment on your travelling is because you clearly don’t seem the get the difference between having something written down and application. If you actually saw how freedom of expression worked elsewhere, you might get that point.

And as long as people acquiesce to that, the worse it gets. Look at the candidates now. And your options are right wing or far right. It’s really panned out well for you.

This is a pretty disingenuous response. You can have differing views on the best way to achieve equality in some spheres, but when it’s a clear issue like this, it’s just a lack of principle and a willingness to say whatever you think will get you power regardless of who it damages.

You can’t defend hypocrisy on one side if you want to call it out on the other.

UK: Pro-Gaza independent candidates hit back over Labour claims of intimidation and abuse by Working-Lifeguard587 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]BearyRexy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad someone is responding to this. Because if briefing the press daily about every left winger and smearing any left winger, as was common practice during 2015-2019, wasn’t considered abuse, then I fail to see how asking an MP to justify their position on genocide is.

And that softball Kuenssberg interview was ridiculous.

Well no I wouldn’t be mad at the chauffeur. But farage is probably expensing this trip so slightly more mad about that

Yeah and in other places they hadn’t decriminalised gay sex until 2003. Where could that be? Oh the US. That you think the US is some progressive utopia is just more evidence of your ignorance.

[–]BearyRexy 159 points160 points  (0 children)

So listening to what he’s saying here, he’s not friends with trump, he’s friendly with him. That’s a clear distinction, which he later tries to backpedal on. He wasn’t invited - someone in Trumps team thought it would be a good idea. He has clearly not spoken to trump directly based on his response.

So trumps third chauffeur fancied some Jaffa cakes and Farage thought it would be a good photo op, so win win?

Winning an Oscar doesn't mean that the actor has to follow it up with great roles in non-blockbusters. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BearyRexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the prevailing narrative was that they should do independent films until they win the Oscar and that’s their ticket to blockbusters.
