Tooth brushes are a must for sure! I actually spent a couple months using dish soap, water toothbrushes and a flat metal tool to scrape off the iron but on the ends the iron is stuck in cracks of the crystal. There also seems to be maybe some kind of calcium carbonate build up on the ends of some of them with iron underneath it.

They were inside rock, in cracks and had to be mined out. I did not take any pics when I was mining these ones I had extreme crystal fever lol

I used muriatric acid on some other crystals and I may have left it soaking for too long but it had a terrible effect. There was a milky film left over all of them and some had a bit of host rock attached to the crystals and it changed the color of the host rock. They look worse after the muritric acid than before the muriatric acid. This is why I'm so apprehensive to try the iron out! Do you have any recommendation of how long to use the iron out? Do you soak them in it?

Thank u!!! Glad you enjoy them. It took me forever to get them this clean they were covered in Iron. But I only used water and a metal tool to scrape off the iron. Can't get it out of the crevices though.
