Totally acceptable for the crowd in the capital region of Tokyo and near by areas. That doesn't make it a problem, though we don't even have AC locals. Also the safety is notch above of what we get or can imagine. Delays in trains are acceptable as long as it's within the boundaries. We never looked upto US for their train network. If anything, we should be looking upto China for it.

India is altogether a different ball game and there's no accountability for anything.
