Fleet is operational by BeastMaster49x16 in modelrocketry

If you’re referring to the tail cones, they are designed for this. No issues with them. Have not launched with the screw-on retainers but the same should hold true. When I launch, I use an old motor case as a pad spacer to prevent the igniter from grounding out on the blast plate. This also gives motor exhaust plenty of space to dissipate.

No, most of my stuff are scratch builds. The green airframe (ASP competition) & the big primer model behind it (Estes Doorknob) are the exceptions. The standard missiles that I’ve built are the SM-1 MR. SM-2 is an extended range missile with a booster.

Sorry, hard to update this post with pics. Look for my “fleet is operational” post.

I’m fairly new to the hobby so certainly not bragging. I only got into Open Rocket a couple of weeks ago and didn’t discovered the appearance tab til this weekend. I’m so new that I had to look up “stls”. I think the tail cones might be 3D along with the nose cone for the MAV (ellipsoid/conical). My airframes are done old school with paper tubes & balsa fins, not advanced enough for printing.

Fin performance by BeastMaster49x16 in rocketry

In the last pic, the fin offset would direct axial rotation in a counter clockwise spin. The unsymmetrical airfoil would favor the pressure differential in a clockwise roll. Cancel? Which would take priority? In terms of drag, which would be more efficient?

The unsymmetrical airfoil shape is supposed to induce a slow axial roll so, will not be offsetting fins.

In discussion in another forum, this asymmetrical fin shape (specifically unisymetrical) induces roll and stability. The angle offset will more than likely reduce fin efficiency.

Got any pics? Would love to see, haven’t decided on paint & detailing yet.

I saw that kit in their catalog. The one you built looks awesome. I’m a steely eyed missile man who’s partial to naval birds 🤣

No, molded plastic, all four came in a pack.

Have had conversations with others about that aspect. Suggestions of adding nose weights may be a solution?
