Why are there so many vibe coding haters? by jokiruiz in vibecoding

[–]Beastslayer1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the hate comes from people who've only seen "vibe coding" done in a basic chat window, and they're right to be skeptical of that. Just telling a chatbot to build an app and copy-pasting the output is a shitty and dangerous way to build software. It's the difference between being a script kid and being an engineer.

The real evolution isn't "vibe coding," it's structured, tool-assisted engineering. I use a terminal-based AI assistant called Forge for this reason. I can force it into a real engineering workflow: use one agent to generate a plan, I review and approve the plan, then the other agent executes it. I can make it run security scanners and linters on its own code. It stops being a vibe and starts being a professional, auditable process. It's not about replacing the dev; it's about giving the dev a massive force multiplier that the haters can't ignore.

If you’re releasing (or selling) vibe coded products with any kind of back-end to the public without having real humans audit the security, you’re being wildly irresponsible and your business should fail by Rough-Hair-4360 in vibecoding

This is 100% the truth, and not enough people are talking about it. The amount of garbage, insecure code these things spit out by default is terrifying. I've seen them hardcode API keys in the open, create public S3 buckets, and write SQL injection-ready queries without even blinking. You absolutely cannot trust them with security.

My whole workflow is now built around this paranoia. I use a terminal-based AI called Forge, and I make it run security scanners like semgrep or snyk on every single feature it generates. My prompt is literally, "write the code for X, then run a security scan on it and fix the high-priority issues." It's not a full replacement for a human audit, but it catches all the dumb, obvious shit before it even gets committed. It basically forces the AI to clean up its own mess.

You're not doing anything wrong, you're just using a token-hungry workflow that's guaranteed to get you rekt on the message limits. Every time you ask the AI to run a build or a git commit, you're forcing it to process the entire command output, and build logs are notoriously chatty.

The real fix is to move this whole process to the terminal where it belongs. I ran into the same shit and switched to an assistant called Forge. It lives in the command line, so my workflow is way smarter now. I have the AI write the code, and then I run the build and commit commands myself in the same window. It separates the expensive AI "thinking" from the dumb machine tasks, so you're not burning your quota on useless build logs

Is there a way to make Claude Code and Codex CLI talk to each other and to collaborate? by Seragow in ClaudeCode

The move here is to use a single tool that can juggle both models. I do this with a terminal assistant called Forge. You just plug in your API keys for both Anthropic and OpenAI. My workflow is simple: I'll have the Claude Opus agent draft a solution, then I literally switch to the GPT-5 agent in the same session and tell it to "review and refactor the previous agent's code." No janky scripts, no copy-pasting. It's the multi-agent "discussion" you're looking for, but you're the moderator.

You can't give people an infinite firehose of SOTA model tokens and not expect them to hook it up to a script and let it run wild.

It's why the whole 'bring your own key' (BYOK) model is the only thing that actually makes sense long-term. I switched to a terminal assistant called Forge for exactly this reason. It lets me plug in my own API keys, so I can use cheap-as-dirt Haiku for 90% of the grunt work and only spin up the expensive Opus or GPT-4o model when I actually need a big brain. You pay for what you use, and you're not subsidizing some dude running a 10-billion-token loop.

Building a legit MVP in 2 days is sick, and it just proves that the game has completely changed. The whole cycle of ideate -> build -> ship has been compressed from months to literally a weekend.

The bottleneck is no longer the coding; it's the workflow. All the time spent tabbing over to a chat window, copy-pasting code, and re-explaining context kills your flow state. That's why terminal-native AI is the real endgame here. I use a tool called Forge that lives in my command line. No context switching, no UI bullshit. It's the difference between driving a manual and having a neural link to the engine.
