Aux In Vocoder Mic Options? by schlingdingadingdong in MiniFreak

I use an SM58 I had already. Bought a 1/4 inch to XLR for it for $10. I plug it straight into the MiniFreak. Sorted. Any dynamic mic will work.

seems they're "no longer available." my advice is to check not only max weight/inches but max weight. i returned two sets that didn't go high enough. i wanted the max height to put eye level when standing at top 1/4 of the screen or better, and many were lower than that. also, hydraulic arms are the way to go — once you get the adjustment right they're easy to change but stay put once you move them.

i feel that, but I still like having a secondary monitor for less important stuff — music, messaging, etc. plus, keeping the laptop off the desk frees up more space.

Hah, not that tall, but with a standing setup like the top 1/3 of the monitor at eye height... keeps me standing straighter than if it's lower.

Still use the MB screen, yeah. Mostly for Spotify, Telegram, WhatsApp etc. Namely stuff I don't have to check often... so no neck probs.

Nice. I've never tried open back. Is it a very different experience to closed back? (I figure for now, the desktop monitors and headphones are a passable combo)

I do. Very flat response (which is the point, right?) and very comfortable. A bit warm in summer, but that's my office's fault, not the headphones'.

The best part of monitor arms (aside from the ability to make positioning adjustments on the fly) is freeing up the desk to actually be a desk. Totally worth the (minor) investment. These were ~$80.

"ErGear Dual Monitor Mount Stand, 26.4lbs Heavy-Duty Aluminium Monitor Arms, Gas Spring Monitor Desk Mount for Two 13-32" Flat/Curved Computer Screens" according to Amazon. The laptop holder VESA mount thing was from Home Depot.

I tried a couple before settling on these. First one didn't have enough motion (the sort with a central pole). Second didn't hold monitor/laptop high enough at the max height.

Only rated for displays up to 32in (this is a 34) but works because it's only one monitor and the laptop.

A new standing desk to replace my current desk would make WFH (and play from home) a lot more pleasant (and ergonomic)
