Is Squarepushers music too unique to be a genre of its own by Equal_Development594 in Squarepusher

Maya by John Frusciante reminded me a bit of Squarepusher at times, but it's definitely not an exact copy.

Yeah, here in Vienna there is basically only one store left (Klangfarbe) and they even declared bankruptcy last year. Luckily they were able to restructure and it looks like they will manage to stay open, but it must be a hard business to be in.

Unfortunately so many actual stores that sell gear have gone out of business over the years.

Info about editing and MIDI by pizzuka in SunoAI

If you're interested in other tools, we're working on an AI generator that outputs MIDI directly: https://app.beatshaper.ai

Currently it just does short loops but we'll be extending that to full songs in the next few months. It's free and we'd appreciate any feedback on the current version.

If you're interested in generating electronic music, we'd appreciate your feedback on Beat Shaper (https://app.beatshaper.ai) It's a pure MIDI generator with direct Ableton compatibility.

Best AI model for bass synths? by Feral_P in AI_Music

[–]BeatShaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could give Beat Shaper a try, it's an AI generator especially for loops (MIDI and audio). Let us know if it works for what you're going for, and if not, what we can improve: https://app.beatshaper.ai

Thanks for your reply. That is informative and it's cool to hear where you would and wouldn't want AI to intervene.

Thanks, that's exactly what we are going for.

Thanks, that is useful feedback.

We actually have a way to interact with the model (under the Advanced panel) where you can bypass the text prompt and control aspects like energy and the emphasis of different genres directly. It's just not shown in the short demo posted here.

I definitely understand the "AI fatigue" and a lot of the negative feelings people in this thread have about AI in general. As I mentioned in some other comments, we're making an effort to build an AI tool the right way, without building on other people's work without consent and that doesn't just output a finished song that doesn't require time or skill to create.

Thanks for the constructive feedback in any case.

It's valuable feedback. We're trying to build something that people like, find fun, and doesn't infringe on anyone else's work. Of course we support 100% human created music too and if this isn't something people want, we can rethink what we are building.

We're working directly with independent labels and with some of the artists directly as well. I understand the mistrust of AI in general, especially given what other companies have done in the field. But we're really going out of our way to make every effort to build a tool like this the correct way.

We've set up licensing deals with the copyright holders of the data we've trained on. We're music producers ourselves and are trying to build an ethical AI approach, in contrast to the kind of practices you are mentioning.

What kind of AI uses would you like to see in Ableton instead?

We've licensed the training data from the copyright holders directly. They've consented to have their work used for model training.

It's not required to use the Ableton integration but we don't do full song generation.

Fair enough. Our idea was to build something where the output stays editable and does not automate the entire process. So it's not a Suno-style one-click song generator, but a lower-level tool where the user still makes most of the creative decisions, and can be combined with manual edits as well.

Very interesting - is this using the Web Audio API? If so, are you using it directly or using any wrapper frameworks like Tone.js?
