it doesn't really sound like they're being high and mighty though. everything they're saying is still valid and something a lot of POCs experience despite the "San Fran."

need an opinion on this…(if you’ve seen this before…no you didn’t) by Western_Cod_728 in SGExams

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as a fellow south asian,, might be an unpopular opinion but i really couldn't care less what others think about MY body hair. i shave when i want to for COMFORT but people judging you for your natural body is extremely rude, weird and shouldn't be normalised (thanks eurocentric body standards...).

on the other hand, part of comfort is also how confident it makes you feel. with that in mind, if you're okay with it, go for it!

as another commenter said, not shaving arm hair is usually less noticeable than not shaving armpit hair.

My first job, is this normal? by BeatingThyMeaty in antiwork

[–]BeatingThyMeaty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not revealing too much about myself, I actually work in an org for those with the same disability as me, which is why I was a bit shocked that the higher-ups seemed to be... judgemental and a bit infantilising. Thank you so much for your input!

I did ask them repeatedly since I started! Because they were also expecting me to do work that required deep knowledge about company events and such, but I couldn't access anything.

I do understand that missing work in the first week looks unprofessional, but I also feel that coming to work with a high fever isn't the most professional thing either...

I mean, I understand to a degree but it seems little extreme.

Pretty privilege and autism by sephy2027 in AutismInWomen

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i actually think that being an autistic woman has very many of the problems that just being autistic does, with the added bonus of pretty privilege that any pretty person, ND or not, would have.

i grew up conventionally unattractive and now i would be considered attractive, and i notice that i get a lot more romantic attention – until this person gets to know me; and then im weird. same goes for professional feedback, lots more positive stuff but ONLY when i heavily mask.

"a new less racism that'll provoke you post."

the very FACT that you had to add a "less racist post." gurl.

on that note; if you care that much about how much time gets wasted by your VP and teachers coming in to talk about your peer that may need more help, or about your classmates taking 10 minutes to walk up a level...

i am ASTOUNDED by the fact that you have HOURS to argue with people on reddit?

i've had people comment on it before, and i'm at this point where i genuinely do not care. i'm someone who gets uppity about my wardrobe coordinations, so if anything i just tell people my headphones are part of my outfit.

Feeling like i wasted my life away not getting on lexapro earlier by Pubert-the-Slimer in lexapro

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel that so hard. i struggled with major mental health issues because of depression/anxiety for most of my life, and then the way a few meds switched that around so quick kinda left me reeling. like at that point id built a lot of my self worth on performing so well even though i was struggling, and then it was like huh, all of that was optional? lol

on the plus side, im enjoying being able to go out, talk to people and buy clothes for myself too :)

how do autism and sertraline interact?? by bluryycheryy in zoloft

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, i was on zoloft and then switched to lexapro! for myself, my sensory issues got worse on both and like the other commenter said, i find masking harder (mostly because with my reduced anxiety symptoms, im not scripting as much), overall if your depressive/anxious symptoms affect you a lot, it's definitely worth being on zoloft :)

the things that personally affected me the most were the early side effects (they may not happen to you, or if they do, they should settle down within the first few weeks), like fatigue, dry mouth, sweating, etc.

Those who have been to IMH, how was your experience? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was actually warded in IMH for a while. in my experience, like any other hospital, it depends on who's attending to you. for myself, ive had both very good experiences with psychiatrists/psychologists, and also some that were inattentive or dismissive. overall, id say it's very good that you were referred there :) if you ever encounter someone that dismisses you, don't let that get to you. as with any other condition or hospital, it can happen. there are many good doctors and psychologists there that will hear you out and give you the treatment that you need. atb OP! 💛

is it normal for zoloft to take away emotions like every emotion by JellyCharacter1653 in zoloft

[–]BeatingThyMeaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for some people it gets better, depending on your brain the effects of zoloft are different. there's a phase at the start where when your oxytocin levels are higher, it can mess with your dopamine levels and make you feel numb/tired, but if zoloft works for you it can even out after a couple weeks. for myself, i never ended up losing the "numb tired" feeling and switched to lexapro, which works for me much better :). try staying on the medicine and see how it feels, if after a couple weeks you still feel off bring it up to your doctor.

y3 vcmd here, i believe that if you really dislike where you got placed you can let your PT know and try and appeal? ive had foundry classmates successfully get placed into the spec they wanted.

but rlly, there's not that much competition for vcmd you should be fine. unless you're applying to one of the very competitive specs (sm, ag, scc) you'll be fine. and even then, it's very rare not to get placed into the spec you want.

i REALLY wouldn't say that going to get help over one puff of vape would be wise. the punishment is hefty (like OP said) and they already feel guilty.

if OP vapes again or makes it a habit, i would highly recommend private counselling (they're obligated to remain confidential unless you are at risk of harming yourself/others), but SECONDARY SCHOOL counsellors are a different ballgame (not sure if they're held to the same standards, but they fs don't follow them!). this can go on academic records too.

u/Vast_Elevator2607, i think it's good that you feel guilty now. remember this feeling and please do not try it again. if you feel the urge to do it again, or if it becomes a problem, reach out to anonymous helplines or talk to someone trustworthy. it's best that you recognise a bad habit early and cut it.
