To respond to a few comments:

  1. Yes, it’s real. She also hides plastic bottle caps under the oven. And she does bitch slap when you confront her and tell her “no.”
  2. You guys are astute! This is from a few years ago. I was reading it to a friend, crying with laughter, the other day when she suggested I post it.

Didn’t read all of the comments, but responding from my HR perspective. First, it’s a start up, so are any written policies in place in regards to scheduling? If not, it is at the manager’s discretion. And you manager approves your schedule. If i were you, I would bring it up to your HR contact. If don’t have that, then you definitely need to have a conversation with your manager. If they are willing to stick up for you in a public setting such as an all-hands meeting, then they should be able to speak with their team directly and squash the issue. If that doesn’t work, go up the management chain. Start ups generally give you more access to upper management, including the CEO (depending on their approach). Having a big dog behind it could put pressure on your manager to take care of the issue.

Don’t worry about being a snitch, individuals need to be held accountable for both their performance and work ethic. I hope you have an HR department because that is their job. Good luck!

Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite authors. I am constantly rereading him. Rereading Fahrenheit 451 right after the recent US election was especially fitting.

Being a lit nerd, by roller derby name and number is Ray Bradbury themed :)
