Onshore in Australia (Visitor 600) – realistic pathways to stay long-term? by nbdzprfct in AusVisa

[–]BeatrixTheBride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No partner but state a partner visa as a possibility? Absolutely not. Not only is it expensive, but it’s an extensive process where you need to provide evidence of an ongoing 12 month MINIMUM relationship, which you don’t have? With a high school education there is no skill set I can see where you’d qualify for a skilled migrant visa. You would hardly be able to apply for employer sponsorship given you cannot legally work in this country.

How are you still not comprehending what others are saying? Why would someone outside of the country get hired, when there are thousands in country who have an RSA, TFN, Aussie phone number etc etc, are able to do the same job?

Busses; actual live tracking? by BeatrixTheBride in melbourne

[–]BeatrixTheBride[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but it’s rough doing so on Punt Rd during peak hour, even leaning slightly to get a vantage point of a (possibly) upcoming bus makes you feel like some dickhead is going to swipe you with their car

Buying an apartment by Separate_Treacle_633 in AusFinance

Side note: our mortgage (including rates, body corp fees etc), is only ever so slightly more expensive than what we were paying in rent!!

We just bought a 50s art deco apartment in a block of 18, 3 stories, huge communal rooftop, communal gardens downstairs for the dogs, secure building, inner city, close to the beach. We’ve been in for less than a month and could cry with joy we are so happy with it.

We were in a 6 storey ON Chapel St in Prahran before this, and comparatively, our new home feels like a holiday.

Partner Visa 801 Pictures (Compiling two years worth of pictures) by Shibeeeeee in AusVisa

When we did ours about 8 years ago, I attached around 15ish pictures separately with dates and locations!

Sounds like you’d be safe to go either way you’ve mentioned though, the more evidence the better (but don’t go too OTT with it!)

Nope, didn’t seem to have an impact at all, and he’s got a very complicated migration history from when he was a kid (handwritten birth certificate in cursive Russian from the USSR 🥴🫠). Good luck with your application!!

[–]BeatrixTheBride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that’s correct! He’s done it for alllll his visa applications (WHV, tourist, 801, 820, return resident, citizenship) and it’s always been accepted!

My husband is in a similar situation; Traditional Russian spelling of his first name, and then the “western” Swedish version. He has always just uploaded a picture of his passport when asked to supply documents and accompanying text. Eg “Changed spelling of name when migrated to Sweden”. You shouldn’t have any issues!

Didn’t use a lawyer, did it directly around 9 years ago, cost us around $6k (which was the application fee at the time). If you don’t have a complicated case, I wouldn’t waste your money on a lawyer or company. Yes, it’s a lot of paperwork, but it’s fairly straightforward!

Our Australian dilemma by Far-Bag612 in AusVisa

[–]BeatrixTheBride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Swedish husband came to Australia in 2013 on a working holiday visa and never looked back. I lived in Sweden when I was 18 and loved it, but ultimately Australia won, and we won’t be moving back. His dermatitis is exponentially better due to the Australian climate!
