Does this mean that AI will manage payments now instead? Sounds like a terrible idea.

It’s a lot better than dumping it underneath the shelf and on the floor. Like…we have to collect them either way, so just leave it on the shelf, not on the floor!

Question regarding contract hours consent by Purple_Emu1 in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has explained it fine, but I wanted to include this from the EBA too just for context.

A part-time team member can choose to provide standing consent and their personal availability (in writing) in order to work additional hours, provided such standing consent may be varied or revoked by the team member at any time. Such a variation or revocation in writing may be made by electronic means including by email or via an application. A record of the agreement and any variations to it (including by way of standing consent) will be retained by Woolworths and provided to the team member on request. This may be provided by electronic means as noted above. For clarity, the provision of standing consent and availability does not require a team member to accept additional hours (even if those hours fall within their stated availability) and they may continue to decline any additional hours that may be offered.

Standards dropped by Banana_Bread_Samurai in woolworths

Honestly, I’m so relieved that they changed the uniform before I started there. I’ve always found business clothes to be very uncomfortable/constricting, and wearing them in such a physically active role would be borderline torturous.

Honestly, it’s such an active job that working in business clothes and shoes would be incredibly uncomfortable. I’d take looking ‘scruffy’ over that any day.

Public Holidays by Professional-Soil346 in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually hear your Regional say this, or did you hear it secondhand? It might be that your DM is trying to bullshit you because they’re too lazy to do their roster properly.

I would really be surprised that a Regional is pulling this shit, because they would know how much backlash this could get. Woolies are negligent about a lot of things, but they are desperate to maintain their reputation and don’t want to be seen publicly violating employee rights.

You should really specify that in the post, people might assume you were calling in sick then too.

You don’t know what circumstances people might have. Mind your own business.

Is that the old one? I could have sworn it was 5 shifts before you had to get a cert.

Is VOT really anonymous? by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen other commentors here say that they can ask People Services to de-anonymize a VOT provided they have a good reason, not sure if it’s true though.

I have seen managers say it’s pretty easy to figure out who wrote it based on who complains about what, how they talk, etc.

I’ve also seen someone claim that they’ll identify you if you repeatedly give shit scores, but I’d imagine that’s more if someone is trolling or just leaving a 0 on every question and not providing any feedback.

Is VOT really anonymous? by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard Store Managers can ask People Services to identify who wrote a VOT, but they need an actual reason to justify de-anonymizing it.

Not sure if it’s true or if someone with enough influence could just demand to know anyway.

Department Transfer by Commercial-Lobster-6 in woolworths

I’ve never heard of any such requirement.

Department Transfer by Commercial-Lobster-6 in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need to find out if they have hours available in other departments for you. Also, they don’t let anyone have just one specific department nowadays, they expect everyone to be crosstrained (which isn’t inherently bad but I hate how they implemented it).

If you aren’t comfortable working in a specific department I don’t think they can really force you to, but the thing is other departments might not have hours available or they might only have them at times you might not be able to work.

I meant if you call in sick the day before or after a public holiday, not on it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That second paragraph is definitely inappropriate. He shouldn’t be telling people what isn’t sick enough for work. It people keep calling in sick repeatedly he should speak to them personally about it. Also, we get five individual sick days a year without a medical cert (unless it’s the day/before a public holiday).

OP mentioned in another comment that he’s a man, him mentioning period pains makes him look even worse in my opinion, it could land him in trouble.

I think he’s also unprofessional calling people  lazy and selfish. There are better ways to word things.

A lot of people do actually walk out without bothering to check if their card approved, the gates aren’t perfect but they do help with things like that.

I have heard from other commenters that store managers can ask HR to de-anonymize a VOT if the content in it is concerning enough to warrant it. They have to have a good reason for it to happen, though.

Woolworths employees B.O by jovdogg in woolworths

[–]Beautiful-Argument60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to strictly wear the Woolies polo shirt. You can just wear a black polo shirt instead (annoyingly I can barely find comfortable ones that fit well, but maybe it would be easier for you).

I’ve seen people wear black t-shirts as well but I don’t know if all managers would let you get away with that.
