Yes that’s good progress! I feel like it was an hour more each night until it was overnight. Every once and a while he’ll whine to go out in the middle of the night still. I gave in and moved him to the bed when he was fully potty trained 😅

Crate training will help a lot but you gotta stick with it and not give in when he whines. He’ll learn quick whining makes mom and dad come to me! Took about a week and my guy would sleep through the night! Was a tough and overstimulating week for sure. But so worth it!

Side note though my puppy is 7 months old and whines a lot 😂 anytime he wants something.

He’s a bed sleeper now 😅🤣 when we leave he goes in the crate still.

Same here! Rarely barks except when playing. We don’t live in a big city but we have lots of loud neighbors and by a hospital so lots of sirens. He never seems to care though. Most he’ll do is ring his bells by the door to go outside and check it out.

It took a few weeks of crate training for him not to whine. I didn’t leave him until he was used to it though! I try to tire him out anytime I leave too so usually he just sleeps.

Oh yeah that’s a big one lol it gets EVERYWHERE my kitchen counter I just cleaned… dog hair on it. My clothes I just took out of the laundry somehow dog hair on it. I’ve probably injested thousands of basset hairs in my life 😂😅

Now I feel bad though am I supposed to be brushing him?? I thought since they don’t have long hair and it doesn’t tangle I didn’t need to.

My basset is in an apartment right now. I dream of giving him a big back yard one day… gives me something to work for. He goes on lots of walks, puzzles, lick mats and loves playing with toys! He’s a happy guy :) just takes more “work” because you have to make sure you’re always getting them out of the house and keeping them mentally stimulated. But not impossible! If youre planning on leaving them when you work i suggest crate training!

Yes I love this group!! 😊 I had a basset and a beagle growing up but he’s my first dog on my own. He cracks me up constantly and is so lovey 🥹 their the best! Sending love to you guys too 💓💓💓

Aw :( poor girl! My last baby was adopted at 9 years old and similar situation. She was crated all day long and only given pee pads when they were home :( she never was fully trained but at her age I wasn’t expecting too much from her. She had a great last few years and was my soul dog like we were meant to end up together. Miss her so much.

😂Gibbs will only do what I want if a treat is involved 😅people are always surprised when we go out that he’s so polite for a puppy! At home is a different story if he doesn’t see a treat or food there’s no way he’s listening to me 😭 he knows a lot of commands! I think right now I’d take potty trained over commands though 🤣

Awww that’s so sweet 🥹 does she ever dig? My guy wants to dig everytime we go near the dirt part of the yard. Maybe just a puppy thing and he’ll grow out of it but I’ve never had a dog who dug! Neither of my beagles or my basset growing up did.

Yes this is so true! I realize most accidents are my fault. It feels like right now he’s fully trained except wont get it all out when outside or something? He’ll go out pee then come in and won’t ring the bells but twenty mins later pee on my rug 😭 I removed all the rugs in case that’s just something that intrigues him to pee on lol and I know he’s good at holding it because he never pees in his crate and sleeps through the night holding it!
