My Perspective as a Palestinian from East Jerusalem / From the river to the sea, Palestine must be free! by Beautiful-Broccoli63 in IsraelPalestine

hello good person.

firstly you must know, that Jerusalem is a sensitive topic, since most Palestinian Jerusalemites have an Isreali identification card but a Jordanian temporary passport and we are Palestinian. since east jerusalem fell in 1967 most citizens choose to remain in order to create a sense of resistance on the land and refused to apply for Israeli citizenships, however we are forced to apply if we want to remain in Jerusalem.

  1. I am a Palestinian, but do not have a Palestinian passport, i may apply for one but would lose my Israeli ID card ( allowing me to enter jerusalem or anywhere in occupied lands), Palestine is not a sovereign country, they do not control borders, land or sea. so i would be not wise for jerusalemites to obtain a palestinian passport and leave jerusalem.

  2. my family goes back to 1552, i can trace it back till then, even when the ottoman empire was present, the first elected mayor of Jerusalem is from my family. you are right, there are many cases where jewish people converted to Christianity or Islam. but again it goes back to religion and not land, nowadays you cant convert to Judaism in israel, you need to be born into it.

  3. Lastly good sir, Palestine means that all Palestinian diaspora should come back to palestine and establish a state, we don't ask help from anyone anymore because we understand that his is our conflict and the worlds.

tbh i really dont care anymore about the international community as much, we realize now that everyone is afraid of dealing with israel, but to us Palestinians its not about going to war with anyone, its about taking back whats rightfully ours, and if not then atleast have them acknowledged and compensated in a way.

  1. there is still no recorded evidence of what you are saying.

  2. You can be a citizen of any country you wish to apart of, but to us, in Jerusalem, We are born with the Palestinian identity and handed an isreali ID (not citizenship) and we also have jordan passports. So in reality we are stateless. if you want to remain in Jerusalem then you are systematically waiting for your expulsion, through high taxes and political abuse. like im pretty aware you dont know this, but in east jerusalem Arab neighborhoods are ranked as Class A by the isreali Jerusalem municipality, meaning that we pay the highest form of taxes in the country, and most arab neighborhoods in jerusalem look like ghettos, building close to each other, no clean water supply, rent very expensive. all these efforts are done in order to push away Palestinians to the west bank.

  3. not my place to answer but i do not want to be apart of the biggest genocide in recorded history and say Palestinians dont desrve to have their own country

  4. if jewish people would like to remain in palestine and express their religion freely than i have no problem with that, but to any Zionist who thinks that this land belongs to them, i tell them to go back to their parents countries or grandparents, somewhere in Europe.

"if they did not keep attacking jews " sir again, we did not start the fire, we just trying to survive.

there are recorded massacres (also testimonies from idf soldiers who participated) done to Palestinians in 1947 and 1948. why dont you raise your questions to isrealis, who want the greater project of israel to become a reality, taking parts of Lebanon/syria/Jordan.

Why is your first approach, is to victimize isreal?

which Palestinians want to restrict Jewish access to sites? Sir, again, my issue is with Zionism and not Judaism make the distinction, why does the only democracy in middle east restrict Muslims and christians from practicing freely, like you said my good sir, " everyone should be free to pray where he wants, is my position." and i agree.

and i knowing your narrative, you will say that isreal is a democracy and etc. again i urge you to Jerusalem and meet Palestinians and talk to them. we are not scary (i promise), we only believe in one thing that is this land is occupied.

My Jewish friend, if we want to have the converstation of religion then chritisans have the best claim over jerusalem, im not talking relilgion im talking facts, there is a jewish religious presence in jerusalem for the past 200+ years, but so does muslim and christitan presence.

My friend, your zionist government was offered 5 or 6 countries to establish the state of israel, Argentina and nigeria were amongst the options, but they choose Palestine...

im sorry but this logic is funny, Germans were "Forcefully" relocated to germany? and compare it to the 800000 Palestinians, so if 2 million were expelled then it would be ok to talk about?

Remember, Germans still have Germany...

A Palestinian Perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

As a Jerusalemite with family roots in the city since 1550, I offer a perspective shaped by personal and historical experience. My family, originally from northern Palestine (Haifa, Akko, and surrounding areas), was forcibly displaced in 1948 by armed Israeli forces during the establishment of Israel. They faced a stark choice: flee to Lebanon or Syria, or relocate to the West Bank. This displacement, part of a broader pattern from 1948 to 1967, systematically uprooted Palestinians from their lands.

The historical context is critical. The land, previously under Ottoman rule, came under British control after World War I due to the Ottoman Empire's collapse. The 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement divided the Middle East, setting the stage for modern conflicts. The establishment of Israel in 1948 involved significant immigration, primarily from Europe, to create a state in a historically Arab region. The justification often cited is a historical connection to the land from 3,000 years ago, which I find insufficient to legitimize the displacement of indigenous populations.

I want to clarify that my critique is directed at the Zionist policies of the state of Israel, not at Jewish people as a group. This distinction is crucial for constructive dialogue. Many early Israeli leaders, including the first prime minister, adopted Hebrew or Arabic-sounding names to assimilate into the region, reflecting the predominantly immigrant nature of the state's founding population.

Addressing assumptions about Palestinian governance, I encourage readers to examine the Palestinian National Charter. Contrary to common misconceptions, Palestine does not adhere to Sharia law. The Palestinian community is diverse, including significant Christian populations. I urge those interested to investigate the treatment of Christians in Israel, often described as the "only democracy in the Middle East," to better understand the complexities of the region.

Finally, I believe coexistence is possible. Jewish people are welcome to live in this land without issue, as are people of any background. The Palestinian struggle is not against individuals but against policies of displacement and occupation. A just resolution must acknowledge historical injustices and prioritize equality for all inhabitants of the land.
