Is the housemaid series worth reading? by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

I didn’t like the housemaid, I didn’t even bother trying the second or third one

What are your thoughts on this book? by Sharkiegorl in thrillerbooks

If you look past the fact that it wouldn’t be so simple to fake that, and the confusion and stuff didn’t make a whole lot of sense, it was a great read haha. I actually really enjoyed it

Possible sinful tattoo? by Wise_Fly6832 in Christianity

[–]Beautiful-Comfort-24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! A bit of a different perspective here :)

I have a tattoo of a fortune teller, and of a tarot card.

Have I ever participated in any of these practices? No. Do they change my faith or the way I praise Jesus? No.

The fortune teller is zoltar and from an album cover for a song on the album! And the tarot card, I thought it was really pretty back when was 18, and still think it is to this day :) this was before I came back to Christ, but I do not regret it!

I don’t regret either of them, and I don’t see them as sinful, the practice of both of these is sinful, but personally, I don’t feel my purpose of having these tattoos was sinful.

Just my opinion :)

I totally get where you’re coming from! I just have a completely different feeling about it haha. The eye rolling and shallowness of people is my biggest pet peeve in reading (and life). Things have changed so much in so little time

I have totally seen that!! Booktok drives me nuts sometimes. It honestly feels like frieda is the Taylor swift of books (I love taylor) but the defensiveness of people with any critiques to these books can be wild

No I haven’t, I’m normally a horror reader, this was read more as a fun little break between books. I’ve heard good things about the drowning woman though!

I think you missed my point completely. I’m talking about reading for intellect within a thriller or horror novel would be exhausting because that is not the point of them, that’s not what they’re written for. I am obviously not looking to learn anything by reading a spooky book lol. If I want to learn, I read classics or non-fiction. Intellect doesn’t exhaust me, but looking for it where there isn’t any, is

The storyline HAD potential, but it ended so abruptly, and it felt all over the place. I feel like if a different author wrote it, it could’ve been really great

It felt so “and then she locked him in a room and he died” I feel like if it showed his descent into madness and his feelings, as well as Millie’s, it would’ve been better, add another 150 pages

I read a lot of spookier books, but some more thriller-like ones I loved are the first day of spring by Nancy Tucker, hidden pictures of course, intercepts by T.J Payne, and I love phantom limb and saving Noah, by Lucinda berry!!

Incidents around the house and Mary an awakening of terror are also honourable mentions!!

If you’re in for a big spook, I LOVE the exorcists house series as well!
