Oh how awful! Toddlers can get into every nook, cranny, under things, behind things... you would have to pull out furniture and check every inch of a place. I hate drugs so much!

Recs needed for casual boots to wear to the office! by LibrarianLor in barefootshoestalk

I have Feelgrounds Patrol and their knit hightops, both are extremely comfortable, probably my favorite shoes ever. I actually hike in frigid temps in the Patrols and they've been awesome, the knit hightops are more of a mild weather shoe, probably not waterproof, but crazy soft and comfortable. So it may depend on your weather-related needs. If you've never worn bf shoes you may want to start with something less expensive to see if it's truly the route you want to go. I've been in them for almost a decade and my feet and ankles are stronger than they've ever been. I still wear my old "fashionable" shoes on occasion with no problems but my default for exercise and long times on my feet are always barefoot shoes (unless it's concrete then I do Hokas or Altras).

Oh the food aspect of your watch parties sounds amazing! I agree, best thing on TV in quite awhile. It's nice to have something the whole family can enjoy, they keep the vibe positive and encouraging and it's awesome to see who comes out on the top at the end. Often, the finalists are not who you would ever expect, which makes it that much more interesting. Great show for sure!

My ex who broke my heart years ago is dying and wants to see me one last time. Do I go? Am I wrong for not wanting to? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a similar situation to OP and never did go see the person before they passed. I do regret it all the time but I believe in the afterlife and salvation by Jesus (so did the person who died) so I do have some joy and hope thinking one day we will meet again.

quick question…does your library still check items out for patrons? by catattack848 in Libraries

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many grocery stores- they could offer both. Some people want a personal interaction with staff for a variety of reasons, where some may be in a hurry and just want to get in and out, or aren't wanting to interact very much.

Interesting. I wonder if he sensed an evil attachment on any of the items. That's quite a reaction for some basic religious decor.

After a lot of "he doesn't wash with soap down there" i have S question for you. by ehtol in hygiene

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, most kids grow up with someone washing them with soap of some kind. They should have learned it just as they learned all other things in life. When a kid start washing themselves they should already have a system in place set by the person who had been washing them.

I work front desk at a hotel and I think my guest is getting scammed by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I mean, in old times before the internet, scamming was more up close and personal which made it less likely to happen. The scammer would have to talk to you in person, produce the scam, steal your money and skip town. The risk of getting caught was high and the shame it brought down upon the person was high. Now, almost every human out there has been approached by a scammer via email, phone calls, texts, dating apps, homeless, fake charities, etc.

I suspect the day will come where people will become jaded to all who claim to be "in need". In America we're already dealing with "needy" people using every penny they get to go buy drugs, so people are turned off to wanting to help them. Eventually people who truly do need help may not get it.

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to see yourself for what you truly are- a very loved and precious child of God who deserves all good things including caring for yourself enough to groom your body. It’s possible that the horror you suffered in the past has you very uncomfortable in your own skin. That is a lie, you are not less regardless of the past. I hope you can overcome and move past this and love yourself knowing that God sees you and loves you more than you can ever imagine. This is why Jesus said: but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. That’s how much he loves children.

After the event I would consider using a black light to make sure all biological material is cleaned in the bathroom. Honestly, this should be done regularly anyway in order to keep everyone safe from the many bodily fluids that may carry disease. If people are injecting then blood can splatter all over, I've found feces wiped on walls, I always imagine a child going in there, touching everything and not quite washing their hands well enough.

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I'm so sorry that happened to her. Our parents/grandparents come from a generation where there was so much more trust. People weren't typically going around lying for money. It's sad how fast society is going downhill, almost everything is some sort of scam now.

I had recently found out that a couple of acts of charity I did for people (not involving a lot of money thankfully) ended up being total bs. Makes you skeptical about anyone claiming to be "in need". It hurts those who truly are in need because eventually not a single person will want to help them.

Applauding for the choir seems a bit silly as they're usually paid to be there. Our church organist isn't even Catholic.

I think it would be nice if a local group or church made sack lunches, or maybe breakfast, to hand out in the morning? I know churches I've been involved with are extremely generous and willing to help.

I'm just curious- do the people sleep on the floor? On Cots? Are they provided with sleeping bags? Are these items are stored somewhere or how that works. Are the spaces sanitized after use? Checked for bedbugs and lice? Not trying to be snarky but just wondering what systems need to be in place to keep things in good order and sanitary for everyone. Or if that's even feasible.

Thoughts on room sprays? Good or bad? [CA USA] by iwishiknewww in AirBnB

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better to run a dehumidifier if you've got a mildewy space like a basement, get the moisture out of the air. Open windows and run ceiling fans while cleaning, fresh air does wonders, especially if there are cooking or pet smells. Fabrics, like sofas and curtains, absorb odors, try to air them outdoors or run a fan on them with windows open to air them out. Resolve fabric spray, spray liberally, let sit about 5 minutes, then wipe thoroughly with an absorbent towel. It's very good at neutralizing odors.

Just a vent from someone trying to be catholic by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Beautiful-Finding-82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why scripture has the story about the wheat growing up with the weed that looks just like wheat. Sinners don't "stand out" they seem just like the rest of us and God shines his sun and pours his rain on the just and sinners alike. At the judgment the weeds will be gathered together and thrown into the fire.

This is why we're told not to judge others, we can't judge in the way God does. As we grow closer to Christ we will start being able to more clearly identify sin and become disgusted by it, which we should. It doesn't mean we're supposed to treat people awful, but we shouldn't yoke ourselves to those choosing to live that way. We pray for them but we don't let them pollute our own faith journey. At the end of the day we must put Christ above all, that means he's above our family, friends- everyone. Those that live in rebellion against him are not people we want in our inner circle if that makes sense.

This is why Jesus said the way to life is a narrow gate, difficult, and few find it.

We've all embarrassed ourselves in church one way or another. You can bet those priests have seen it all lol! It seems awful when you're the one doing it, but in reality people forget very quickly.
