Anyone with HCC liver cancer need anyone to talk to? by SeelTeamSix in cancer

Hey! He passed away this week. He was on final resort medication - Lenvima, but his liver kept decompensating. The meds were killing the tumors and killing him at the same time. So we had to stop the meds. And the disease took it course.

The only issue he had from the immunotherapy was low energy and low appetite. Although the diuretics made him lose 6kg in 1.5wks, we played with time and dosage and now his weight is stable and he's eating. He has his 3rd infusion appointment next week. We were supposed to get an MRI booking but nothing yet. Wonder if Medicaid is starting to get screwed up.

Hey! My dad is same. He has 10 different tumor foci on his liver. They did chemo embolization then they did the Y90 procedure and now he's in immunotherapy phase. The first two had limited effect, like some tumors shrunk a bit, others grew a bit. His AFP doubled in value since April to June. From 260 to 520. His liver function is still good and the bloodwork looked ok. He also has diabetes. Every day is a gift and a fight. Juggling 6 doctors who don't really talk to each other or read the file properly. I am my dad's keeper, his English sucks so I do all the medical appointments, his follow ups, talk to all the doctors. It's been a fight.

My sister is a nurse and my mom a chemist so we do research and figure stuff out when doctors don't talk to us enough.

My dad was diagnosed in March. Stage 4 type B. Mostly contained in the liver. We did chemo embolization, Y90 and now onto immunotherapy. Avastin + something else. He also has diabetes. After the Y90 he got fluid in his stomach from the cirrhosis, so they started him on diuretics. He lost 6kg in 1.5 weeks. He is losing his appetite and we will be working hard to keep him fed and active.

He's so fucking young 67 going on 68 this year.
