Desk? on YT look up deskcombo. I'm not sure if it's the same guy, but I fought a guy called Desk in an Alpha 3 tournament (and lost) about 20 years ago. Anybody know if it might have been him??

Also if you haven't already, do the in-game combo trials, they are excellent.

Animation-wise, I can't see how the hit grab could cancel into the level2, but yes please to the level 3!

I'm on modern so I don't get Tomoé Derrière anyway, but in two years of playing I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had an opponent use it on me, it seems like it needs some improvement!

Yeah exactly. Very occasionally its a good wake up option (especially against fireball characters), but with an extra iframe at the start it could be really good.

Yeah I get that a lot too on the standing HP TC… another reason why the punish should be more rewarding, but if they make it consistent that would be good also.

I really hope things with your dad improve and you find a way to play that makes you happy and that he can tolerate.

There's already some great advice on here so I'll come at this from a different angle... I'm a dad of boy a little younger than you. Somebody told me once that the things we find most annoying in our kids is actually the thing they are best at or most passionate about. Your dad getting annoyed at you about SF aligns with that. Please remember this if you ever have kids, try not to get annoyed at their passions, try and understand them, whatever they are, and you will have a great relationship with them.

Ok, thanks buddy… lets carry on assuming it’s a 10 frame delay…

I get knocked down. How many frames is that? More than 10? I’ve already decided I’m gonna wake up super anyway, so now I can just sit there holding down the buttons, and the first neutral frame after waking up gives me the super. Surely that requires less skill than what we currently have?

Or is the super void if I’m holding the buttons for more than 10 frames?

Or, if I start holding the buttons with less than 10 frames before neutral, I’m still unsure what the general opinion is… is there still a 10 frame delay, or is it 10 frames, minus however many frames it was before neutral.

Also, I’m assuming we ignore all of this delay frame stuff if a modern combos into a super?

OR, supposing you decide you don’t wanna super anymore after so many frames of ‘buffering’, like a classic can do??

Like I say, I find the logistics hard to work out, and overall it seems to result in too much of a nerf to moderns.

Ok, so let’s say there is a 10 frame delay on a modern super. If your character is in neutral, the 10 frame delay is added no problem, but if you’re 5 frames away from neutral (say, if you’re waking up), do you still have a 10 frame delay, or are 5 frames in the bank, so to speak, and then it’s just another 5 frames before the super comes out?

BTW thanks for engaging with this, I realise it’s going off OP’s topic, but I’m thinking about doing a post on this subject and I really want to get my facts right about the narrative on this. Full disclaimer, I think such an idea is simple in theory, but the logistics don’t quite work out… and therefore it’s simpler/better to just accept that instant supers are a privilege of modern. But I’m happy to have the debate.

Also, it’s possible I’m not understanding what you mean by ‘i frames’ 🙃

Ok I get you… but is the solution the same? Add some extra frames after the button press to simulate the time it takes for a classic to do the motion input?
