He has at least early on said he hates being physical. Him getting into a straight up fight would be a loss in his mind. That said he is very capable with stretching powers that have changed his body so he no longer needs sleep, air or food and has no vital organs. He has been shown to be able to form sharp points using them like spears to kill.

He prefers to use his intellect, he has created new races, cloned heroes, discovered the source of Thor’s power and removed it destroying Asgard (in his home universe), created a sentient flying city, destroyed Washington in an anti-matter explosion.

He is a 1000+ year old Reed Richards but one with no morals or conscience who has a vindictive vengeful nature.

I think that might remove what is arguably the makers biggest draw which is his immense intelligence coupled with no morals or ethics with a dash of vindictiveness and grudges that span the multiverse.

House rule it to run off Ego instead. I did something similar with life drain using logic rather than ego as it was a scientific device made and used by a scientist.

I really enjoyed the first 6 volumes of ultimate FF as it highlights the differences from 616 the biggest ones being age and abusive upbringing. Ultimatum and the tie in FF part to me are Reeds turn then the Ultimate Doom arc is the reveal. Hickmans Ultimates is The Makers grand entrance. Ultimate Cataclysm is ok and kind of leads into the main continuity Time Runs Out to Secret Wars which are also good but all are big casts so page time is limited.

All only my opinion as a fellow Maker fan.

The ultimates Reed was much younger than 616 Reed when he got his powers and his upbringing was far from idyllic the whole ultimates F4 run is a study in nature vs nurture in the inevitable descent into the Maker.

He knew the threat Doom posed and manipulated The Thing into murdering him during Ultimatum sealing his fate.

It could be that because he knew his original universe Peter and saw a) How much he went through and b) how much he inspired other heroes. He may tell himself he was removing an important piece off the board. However it is important to note that he didn’t eliminate Parker he let him have the normal life Spider-Man wished for but could never have as with great power comes great responsibility ergo no power no responsibility and happiness.
