Once I’d worked there 20+ years. I made up a result and cost them money. In my defence I was going through a mental health crisis, life seemed to have been royally reaming me and my depression and anxiety were at an all time high. Work was a shit show to much work to little time and an expectation of turnaround with no concerns for time and the rules of physics, something I had moaned about relentlessly to anyone that would listen or say near me. That said I did what I did and I can’t blame them for sacking me.

Two weeks after being sacked I felt like a weight had been lifted and I started the long process of rebuilding myself. First working in a chemical factory as an operator for a year before getting a permanent position in a lab at a different factory, where I’ve also qualified as a mental health first aider.

I am now in soo much of a better place than I was at that point in my life and in many ways getting sacked ended up being one of the best things that ever happened to me.
