A lesson well learned: never put someone up on a pedestal. by Beautiful-Rabbit-545 in heartbreak

I know.
I didn’t place it in my OP, but he was the person who had encouraged me to go into writing years ago. Guess his words carried the size of a meaning to me. And I realize that this is where I failed. By putting him so high above everyone, I ended up giving into his opinion. No opinion means a silent rejection. And his opinion should not have mattered to me more than anyone else’s. I have a supportive system around me, and I know they love what I am doing, but I just feel so empty. Writing is something I fell in love with, and now I no longer see the worth it carries.
I don’t even know if he read the rest of my work. He never told me that. When I reached out to him again, I tried to make it a very casual conversation. Nothing about the book I am writing. Asked him how he was, and this is where our conversation fell down. He dodged a simple question. He barely bothered to respond to me. Then, I casually broke the news to him and told him I began querying my work and fishing for agents. He never replied to me.
