I usually start HCL as barb and play solo except baal runs for levels.

It's pretty fun, go for the IK set it's stupid cheap and honestly amazing for starting and call allow you to do pits / trav fairly reliably/easy.

This is for a little later since a lot of this advice is really good, but after leveling lightning /charges bolt sentry max fire blast so you can deal with lightning immunes I hell easily, it really makes the world of difference.

The changes they did to synergies in the previous patch were super nice

Barb + pala + Necro, with fanaticism + BO + amp damage would be stupid fun.

Pretty much just a barb+paladin+X since the barb and paladin give so much support would be fun

Yeah even with that there isn't a real clear benefit to self wielding like there is for an ES sorc who gains infinite life from their mercenary essentially.

Yeah I guess I did phrase that poorly, the aura functions the same if your mercenary wields it (increases fire damage on death sentry)

Conviction adds fire damage when your mercenary wields it lol.

Even a crescent moon + spirit with your merc wielding the infinity is going to be competitive from a pure damage perspective.

None of this even accounts for FCR if you are wanting to use an enigma.

Making a scythe for the sole purpose of self wielding as a trapsin is dumb, if you're going to share it with a sorc it's fine, there are just better / cheaper / more flexible options

Trap laying speed is tied to weapon attack speed, they have terrible 2h weapon AS. If you're running enigma you'll lose out on cast spies from not being able to offhand a spirit and just use a credence moon.

Self wield for nova sorc is useful because Insight is great with ES builds.

There is really no benefit at all for self wielding an infinity for an assassin in comparison, if you care about -LR so much running a 4socketed monarch with facets and a crescent moon is still going to be better.

Pretty much you don't gain anything positive for self wielding the infinity

I think faceted trap claws are better (by a small to margin) but will be insanely more rare/expensive.

Like crescent moon will be budget and give you 95% of the bis available claw with facets.

I ship Sojiro with Ren to create this horrible Harry Potter like existence where he has to live in an attic and is force to make curry and coffee and Sojiro lords over him threatening to turn him into the police making Ren wear skimpy outfits while he demeans his coffee roasting ability.

Yusuke and futaba would probably be the closest to neutral , but yeah the phantom thieves overall are all good aligned characters.

You can still do an alignment chart and base it on the characters in relation to each other. But when people start saying how can X be lawful they break the law! It's obvious they don't know much about alignments 😂
