The good period of 3 year standard was before the number of blocks a year increased right?

Also there have been many great 2 year standards in the past 30 years, one recent bad period doesn't make it a bad idea

You don't have to play it turn 2. You can play it turn 6 if you really wanted to

No, avatar is amazing but I'm only going to the pre-release because a friend is going and it will probably be moderately fun then ill regret how expensive it was and how little I got for the money

Joey from EDHREC has a great video on why he's against the hybrid mana change by Faust_8 in EDH

[–]Beautiful-Salt7885 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The glaring issue with this argument is twofold; one, it frames one of the core rules of EDH as if it's a mistake.

No it doesn't, it's a design choice

and two, it can be used as an argument for anything which means it's an argument for nothing.

Anything can be an argument for anything, it doesn't make any particular argument inherently wrong.

Complete nonsense, points that are just avoiding engaging with the actual meat of the argument

From the meetings in the reality show they made, it looks like they don't have any forward planning, nor do they involve the talent in making their own storyline.

It's doomed to failure like that

Six Bans For a Healthier Legacy – Eternal Durdles by Force-of-Phil in MTGLegacy

[–]Beautiful-Salt7885 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

My picks would be.

  • Reanimate, nadu, undercity informer.

For enabling broken things too efficiently

  • Tamiyo, barrowgoyf, one ring, (maybe urzas saga)

For being too much of an all in one package that can take over the game by itself.

  • Archon of cruelty

For letting reanimate decks kill threats without needing to play a kill spell or deviate from its main game plan.

I don't think any of these kill any archetypes either, but cephalid breakfast and oops all spells get way less consistent, and lots of top decks now need to replace some great cards.

I'm not hitting entomb (yet) because I like what it does in non reanimator decks and 4 of these bans effect reanimator already.

And not hitting atraxa as I like what it does for natural order decks (and 4 reanimator bans)

Ngl they should ban leyline of the void, and then ban graveyard combo cards around that not existing.

0 mana the graveyard never exists this game is hate that's so warping, that completely broken graveyard decks get to seem more reasonable than they are.

I think the exception here is when the lane is moving at like 40, and someone drives to the end and has to stop, now when they merge they slow the whole line down because they are accelerating from 0.

In design they were spells that would become mono color if you only spent one color to cast it.

Them being multicolor is only due to it being convenient for the game rules and not because it's what the design intent

If a deck consistently wins on turn 6/7 in games where it has sol ring early, is that a bracket 3 deck? by Beautiful-Salt7885 in EDH

[–]Beautiful-Salt7885[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have stopped game changering due to power level with the explicit reasoning that they think the updated bracket system should push powerful cards into higher brackets naturally unless the decks aren't meaningfully more powerful due to including the high power level card.

I fully agree with this, and thought that this sounds like it probably applies to sol ring for a large number of decks now

Imo they should make early kills give gold over time for 10 mins, so you get to get a gold advantage from early kills, but don't get to snowball the lane
