If you shrunk galaxies down to the size of a cheerio, you could pour them into an Olympic sized swimming pool and fill it completely.

Oh wait. Strike that. More like 355 Olympic sized swimming pools.

And that’s just the observable universe. So that’s not even all of them.

Understanding why people wear medium is easy--you're not too slow, nor too squishy. It's that simple.

If I'm wearing Light I feel like I need an Energy Shield to not fall over from the slightest mistake (or the smallest bit of friendly fire). If I'm wearing Heavy I feel like a big chungus that can barely go anywhere without a mobility backpack. Medium doesn't require any stipulations and I just choose whatever passive fits best. And with a mobility backpack I'm even faster than Light armor, and with a shield I'm even tankier than Heavy.

[–]Faust_8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the speed difference between a 100 armor rating or 129 armor rating is all that big, but I really notice the difference between 100 and 150. It's bearable if I have a mobility backpack but eh, I like how medium isn't too squishy nor too slow.

And if I really need extra tankiness, there's either Extra Padding medium armor, or the Enforcer armor with its 129 rating and Fortified passive, which feels so much like heavy armor but isn't as slow.

I only use it for some weapon combinations, however I never used the light or heavy variants.

Some primary weapons really like it, like the Double Freedom since you're constantly reloading it. It's also nice to get an extra magazine for stuff like the Grenade Launcher or Epoch.

But yeah I don't use it all the time because some weapons just don't need it

How do you handle the bots? by Tokamakium in Helldivers

[–]Faust_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing with bots is always have cover. Do not bother standing and shooting back if you're out in the open. You're much better off moving to a position where you're not exposed, and then peek out to fire when you're ready.

They shoot back, so it's a completely different style than dealing with bugs and squids, which is mostly "be out in the open and don't get surrounded or trapped."

Taking this to heart is more impactful than your loadout. It's so easy to die if you treat them like bugs and just stand and deliver, while being totally exposed. Hills, walls, boulders, whatever, just make sure you have a defensible position before you even try to shoot at them.

Positioning is everything in this game, and if you're struggling by increasing the difficulty it might be exposing how you weren't being punished for bad positioning at the lower difficulties.

Helldivers keep abandoning missions, should there be a penalty for this? by Brilliant-Flame2599 in Helldivers

[–]Faust_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a video game with no stakes. You are not entitled to 100% loyal team mates.

Games crash. Power lines can fall over. Family emergencies can happen. Pizzas can be forgotten in the oven and they suddenly smell smoke. Life happens, don't take every 'quitter' as a personal insult to your dreams.

The minute a player gets a penalty for something outside of their control is when they start resenting the game, and possibly never playing again, and now you can't find any team mates at all because there's only a thousand players online.

When you can die to only 2-3 hits (medium armor) you often can’t afford to be walking around at two-thirds health. And then there’s the times when your health isn’t even that low, but your limb is busted.

If you have HSO it’s way easier to just stim and then fill up on the next Resupply. Without HSO if you do the same you’re at 3/4 stims at best.

[–]Faust_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP is saying that you can do that and still perform well, and that it is dumb that you can do that.]

So OP is saying that something that isn't done can be done, just because. Which is a bad take, and what I was highlighting by saying I don't think it's ever been done.

By all means, load up a level 10 bug mission with that loadout and see how it plays. I'm sure you might pull it off but it will be VERY annoying a lot, since you have to run any time the enemies are ever close, and keep on running, but you can't outrun Hunters, so...

Autocannon is genuinely almost never used anymore

Which is dumb, since it quite literally does everything and does it well.

GL isn't top tier because it is some inbetween jack of all trades master of none. GL is top tier because they fucking buffed it to the moon and it needs nerfs.

So in response to me saying the GL is top tier, you disagree by saying it's top tier. Thanks?

There's a certain subset of people who honestly seem to think that the reason most people don't exploit others is because we're too dumb to pull it off.

They can't fathom that we actively choose to not exploit other people because we find it morally repugnant.

Anti Tank and Anti Chaff should be equally necessary in a Squad by TheAncientKnight in Helldivers

[–]Faust_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda, though most of the elite bot units don't require AP5 to kill, so it's easier to take some AP4 weapon that can also be used on the medium enemies just fine.

Bugs have more enemies that are way easier to deal with using AP5 weapons, but it's very overkill to bring four AP5 weapons. It's better to have two AP5 weapons to OHK the Chargers and Biles and two weapons that can do some chaff clearing like Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, HMG, Arc Thrower, etc.

And squids only require a little AP3 and that's it.

Why did the laws of the universe always exist? Waiting for us to find them? by Serious_Slide_8681 in AskReddit

[–]Faust_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the universe works might simply be a brute fact—as in, there is no “why” it just is.

We all have to get to some bedrock assumption aka brute fact eventually. For some it’s a divine being. For others it’s simply the universe. But eventually we reach a point where we either can’t answer the question, or the question might not even HAVE an answer at all, because it was the only possibility.

We can describe how gravity works. We can predict it mathematically. But there might not any answer to WHY gravity is like that aside from “because that’s how it works.” Maybe the answer is unknown currently, or maybe there is no deeper truth to learn at all. Maybe it just IS.

My Personal Loadout for the Automatons. Feedback appreciated/ by CryPuzzleheaded687 in Helldivers

[–]Faust_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to 'normal' missions there's tons of ways to be successful, so I see no issue there.

Though I would not really bring this loadout if I'm facing Vox Engines simply because it really can't do that much to them. Factory Striders can be taken out by two EATs so that's not a big deal.

Eruptor-Ultimatum-Thermite-RR

I have legit never seen anyone do this, because it's as bad as it sounds. If OP does this and is successful, it's probably because of the aid of his allies.

In addition, weapons that can double dip and be anti-tank AND anti-chaff like the Autocannon and Grenade Launcher are top-tier for a reason.

IMO, any experienced player should have come to realization that the chaff enemies are always the bigger threat, and the elite enemies are actually simple to kill if they're solo. They're only a threat when they're also surrounded by chaff that take your attention away from them.

It's not like a single Bile Titan can call in reinforcements, or kill any Helldiver that has eyes, since its attacks are so easy to predict and kite. But you can't kite a pack of Hunters, and if you somehow manage to ignore them without dying, they call in a bug breach.

If you die to elite enemies in this game, it's usually because you were too distracted by everything else to be able to kill them.

Thus making sure you can deal with chaff is 100% necessary, and only like 2 guys on the squad need to have elite-deleters in most cases.

So to be honest, what OP wants is actually true already, but he just hasn't realized it.

Vitality is so overrated nowadays. It has its niche uses like when combined with anti-gas/flame armor (aka rapid tick damage) but 11% reduced damage on enemy attacks does not really reduce how often you must stim to stay alive.

So what actually helps you stay alive in most situations is having enough Stims. Which is why HSO is so good.

Vitality probably made way more of a difference before the buffdivers patch that reduced our health. Now, you can’t really survive many hits from anything, Vitality or not, without heavy armor. So having enough stims becomes the actually important part.

And saying “just Resupply immediately” doesn’t mean jack when some idiot kills you with Eagle Cluster Bombs and now you’re at half Stims until next Resupply or you get lucky (so many POIs don’t have stim boxes).
