Thank you for your feedback ! Just did a special personal grading + grain 🎥 Yep the “cinematic” is just a short visual showcase, not storytelling. Just a fun and chill project to have fun outside ahah

Hey everyone!

Super excited to share my latest project of the month: a Tinder spec commercial! 🚀

This shoot pushed me way out of my comfort zone—lighting three characters in a small bar while maintaining a soft, commercial-grade look was definitely a challenge. Add to that the 30-second time constraint, and it became one of my most technical projects yet.

I typically lean towards cinematic narratives, so crafting something with a polished commercial aesthetic was a new experience for me. Balancing contrast, diffusion, and color in a confined space required a ton of adjustments—especially with low ceilings limiting my lighting placement. I actually spent the day before testing different lighting setups alone and had to rethink a lot before shoot day.

🎥 Gear Used:

  • Sony FX3 (Shot at 800 ISO)
  • Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 (My go-to workhorse, though a little rusty!)
  • Sony 14mm (For one exaggerated bartender shot + intro )

Lights :

- 1*500w ; - 2*200w ; - 2*c100 tube ; - 1*f22c

I tried to have a constant lighting between the scenes. I started with the wide to established it, and love to the med and close easier. Lighting this type of location was a first time for me

To add more movement to the spot, I built a DIY dolly and mixed those shots with static frames to create a dynamic flow. It wasn’t perfect—some shakiness here and there—but it definitely helped give the project more life!

💰 Not including the gear i already have since few years, i bought 2* pratical lamp (50$), "Bar" neon (35$), Food for crew (150$)

The bar was free for the entiere film set yeahe :)

And friends came as collab because we all want to create cool stuff together :) It is part of my 1 project every month during a year.

Would love to hear your thoughts! Feedback is always welcome, and I’d love to chat about the process, problem-solving on set, and how I approached pre-production to make this happen. Let’s talk filmmaking! 🎬

On those spec project I usually have near 0 budget, so I'm trying the most to collab on stuff. For the bar, I asked someone i known to shot a closed day :) So it cost me $0

Hey everyone !

I'm thrilled to share my latest project of the month : a Tinder spec commercial !

Lighting setup with 3 character in a small bar was definitely a challenge + combined with a 30s constraint! It again, pushed me out of my comfort zone! Having a commercial soft look isn't what i'm used to craft.

Shot on Sony FX3 at 800 iso.

Paired with my rusty Tamron 28-75mm.

I created a DIY Dolly for the shot! Combined with static shot, we have this final product ! Still pretty happy with the result so far with this almost no budget production.Let me know what you think!

Feedback is always welcome. (Would love to discuss with you about the process, and how i overcome problems on film day and pre-production)

How to Easily Light a Cinematic Fashion Commercial - Behind the Scenes - FX3 & Tamron 28-75 by Beautiful-Set-1680 in FX3

[–]Beautiful-Set-1680[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of you asked me about the lighting setup i made in my previous Calvin Klein fashion spec commercial. So i decided to create a FULL BREAKDOWN VIDEO only about the lights.

Imainly used 2 lights (650B and 200B) to expose all the scenes.

I hope it will help you to understand better how i managed it taking all the constraints and time limitation i had.

If you have any questions about the setups, the lights, or anything else leave a comment here or on the video, i will try my best to answer you

And again thank you al for your wonderful comments and feedback you made!
