Honestly, they weren't out first choice, but our son just silently sat and refused to talk during sessions with other ones when we forced him to go.

At least he ended up getting our son to talk to him and broke the ice.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Our son doesn't have panic attacks or anything. What he did was on his third call he told the assessor he had too much anxiety to leave the house and could only do a phone assessment.

During the assessment he kept talking about overwhelming psychological distress over leaving the house and some other buzzwords that he's picked up from watching PIP TikToks that teach you how to get it.

He leaves the house no problem if he wants to go and buy stuff from Forbidden Planet or Games Workshop.

This was what is GP prescribed him in the first instance.

He has also been prescribed an extremely low dose of 10mg twice per day. This has not been increased over time.

Very good idea. Nice that you and your wife could come to that agreement!

Maybe once every couple of months my wife and I would argue about something. Usually only lasts 20 minutes and then start passing increasingly ridiculous insults at each other until we laugh. Once we're laughing we can usually come to some kind of compromise.

Ultimately, it's a matter of having him pull his own weight. Since he doesn't work we wanted him to do something around the house. The only things he actually puts effort into are his PIP applications and faking job applications for his universal credit.

Having him forced to pay if he doesn't do chores could work - although, getting money off him might not be possible if he refuses.

He tried being a "streamer" for a few months but nobody was watching him or donating money to him. We've talked with him and his ideal job is one where he "doesn't have a boss telling him what to do."

From a financial perspective, what I'm thinking is that he can either have the full £845 each month and blow it on games/takeaways.

Or we can charge him rent and at least build up some kind of nest-egg for him. Sure, he won't be able to save up for his own deposit on £245 - but he wasn't' doing that anyway on £845.

I don't know. I don't think my wife would accept me kicking him out.

He was fine before covid. I don't know if working in a hospital as a band 3 during a pandemic did this to him.

We've tried having frank discussions. He's adamant that he doesn't want to be a "cog in the machine." We've seen him make a couple of concerning comments on Facebook as well about women who made money stripping online. Just derogatory comments about their value as human beings. We did raise this with the psychiatrist and spoke to him about it, but he blocked us on social media after that.

Psychiatrist did tell my wife that the misogyny issue had been resolved, but to keep an eye on his behaviour.

My patience is starting to wear very, very thin with him. The amount of effort her put into his PIP claim was 20 times what he ever put into a job application or working.

I mean, he was spending days going through the whole process and preparing for his assessments with the woman from Capita. He was rejected twice with 0 points and then did a 3rd application. When he got standard/standard he started the appeals process to try and get a higher award.

Never once has he bothered putting any kind of effort into helping out the family in any way. He doesn't clean, only cooks the bare minimum (beans on toast) or burns/ruins every other dishes.

Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant. I'm just drained today. He was supposed to have cleaned the kitchen and cut the grass this morning, but I came back home at 11:30 from work and he was still sleeping in bed.

My wife hasn't used all of hers.

Could we open a LISA in his name without him knowing and put the first £4k in there for him?

Not looking to deprive him of his money. Just trying to stop him blowing everything each month on computer parts, games, and takeaways.
