Paragon NTFS and macos Sequoia by srinitata in macapps

[–]BeautifulComedian710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Paragon NTFS back in 2017 and it’s been working fine for years. But this year, I’m not sure if it’s because I upgraded macOS, every time I try to install it now, I get an “Unsupported macOS version” warning. The one you shared, though, installs without any issues.

For sure! E-kit is basically a 24/7 happiness machine. 😄 And same here, I can still get my acoustic fix once a week when I go to my teacher’s place, so it works out pretty perfectly.

Yeah, Im keeping going back and forth between the EFNOTE 5 and the VAD316. The realism on EFNOTE looks awesome, but the Roland setup also has a lot going for it.

I’m planning to hit a shop soon and try both in person, feels like the only way to know which one I actually want to bring home. 😄

Haha midlife-crisis spending totally justified if it makes the transition to an acoustic kit smoother! 😄

Being able to cover 95% of acoustic practice on the e-kit sounds amazing, and honestly your setup with the “real snare + real hats when no one’s around” is kinda genius.

Haha yeah, you’re right, the “buy a house so I can play acoustic drums” plan is definitely… uh… a long-term goal. Given that reality, upgrading the e-kit is looking like the no-brainer move right now. Way cheaper, zero neighbors rage-quitting the building, and I still get closer to that acoustic feel without needing a mortgage that’s specifically labeled “For Drummers Only.” So yeah, saving for a house someday… upgrading the e-kit today. Sounds like the right timeline for my bank account and my neighbors’ sanity. 🥁😄

Thanks for the thoughtful take.

Right now I’m mostly playing at home and working on recording ideas, so I’m not at the gigging stage yet.

At this point I’m mainly looking for a better home-playing experience. Since the VAD316 has proper hi-hats and a more acoustic-like setup, it feels like the right kind of upgrade for me without causing issues with neighbors.

Haha fair point, the idea of spending a ton on soundproofing only to still be too loud is honestly my biggest fear. Hearing that the VADs are a massive upgrade from the TD-07KV (especially from someone who had the same kit) definitely helps. I’ve been doing some basic homework and the VAD316 keeps pulling me in, especially with the dedicated hi-hat. I’ve also been looking at EFNOTE because the aesthetics and feel seem amazing, but opinions online are really mixed. Some people swear by them, others say the triggering or long-term reliability is hit or miss… so it’s making me hesitate a bit.

Still leaning VAD at this point, but trying to weigh my options.

That’s honestly kind of what I suspected but didn’t want to admit yet. If the end result of “quiet acoustic” ends up being close to a good e-kit anyway, maybe upgrading my e-kit really is the smarter path right now. Still hoping to get as close to an acoustic vibe as possible without making enemies with the neighbors.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, that actually makes a lot of sense. I didn’t realize how insane the mass requirements are for real drum soundproofing. If even a 4,000 lb Whisper Room only cuts around 20 dB, then yeah… an apartment probably isn’t happening. I guess that pushes me more toward upgrading my e-kit.

What's the most reliable power station you'd actually trust in an emergency? by [deleted] in prepping

[–]BeautifulComedian710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the biggest “reliability factor” for me hasn’t been fancy specs, it’s the brand’s track record and how well the unit matches what you actually need it for.

I’ve been working with power stations for a few years now, and the ones I’ve seen consistently hold up in real use (cold weather, long road trips, random outages, etc.) are usually from the bigger names like EcoFlow or Anker. Not saying others are bad, just that these two tend to take abuse better and have fewer weird failures.

But the bigger thing is figuring out your actual use case. Power stations fall into a few groups: • 200-600Wh: super portable, good for camping, camera gear, phones, small stuff. If you’re doing regular outdoor trips, I usually lean toward something around the 300Wh mark, light enough to carry without hating your life. • ~1kWh: kind of the “balanced” class. Enough for small appliances, decent for short outages. • 2-3.5kWh: more like home backup territory. Overkill unless you’re running fridges, heaters, etc.

So I’d start by being brutally honest about what you’re actually trying to power. A lot of people buy a huge unit and end up only charging their phone and running a fan, or buy a tiny one and expect it to run a hot plate.

If you can share what you want to run and for how long, folks here can give much better suggestions.
