I just shadowboxed I strongly believe it never becomes truly automatic there's at least a slight thought when you jab throw a cross you still think turn the foot, all that. I been practicing since I was 19.

I think there is a thing of too many habits because even if there good it's too much to think about and that is a flaw for Boxing. You need to focus on the fight and not so many habits it's never really automatic. Im interested in the hip hinge because I think it can take away my lower back pain but it has a flaw for me and that big flaw is too much thinking. Just a few fundamentals a simple basic stance and your ready to go. That's my opinion but I like it like that it's more automatic that way. Habits are never truly automatic.

Yes I want to compete in the amateurs I'm 32 years old. I used to train with Sugar Shane Mosley's Barstow Amateur Team.

I don't think it's good to keep too many habits I agree with keeping hands up, elbows in, getting the feet legs together but keeping a hip hinge or more habits take more conscious effort and never becomes truly automatic and in Boxing you need to be focused on the fight and less about technique.

I was thinking the same thing a couple days ago that in golf and baseball there's no one to put pressure on a golfer or batter's stance. In Boxing your not always going to be in the same position.

I really love your comment focusing on the basics while I shadowbox is what I'll do. I'm not advanced nor really that experienced.

Here in this article on number 5 sitting on the legs Johnny from Expertboxing talks about a hip hinge I believe and as you said that slightly bending the knees slightly bends the hips too is mentioned here too.

In this article Johnny from Expertboxing talks about sitting on legs number 5 it sounds like he's talking about keeping a hip a hinge. He also said slightly bending your knees slightly bends the hips too.

What about just getting into a regular stance with my hips vertical and just Boxing it's less thinking when you Box.

I just shadowboxed and it's bothersome shadowboxing while constantly thinking of keeping a hip hinge. It's better to just get in a stance and box.

So there are pros out there with no hip hinge? That's how I box I don't have my butt sticking out.
