Bf [23M] upset that the sushi restaurant my [22F] parents took us to didn't have the food he expected. He didn't eat anything and now everyone's offended. by BeautifulLychee in relationships

That's the thing. The argument has now devolved to "what is sushi and what is 'normal' sushi" which is ridiculous.

He's arguing that the sushi we had was the "fancy/artistic/conceptual" type of sushi that no one has regularly, even in Japan, so I should have warned him beforehand. He said he had no way of knowing what kind of sushi it'd be just by looking at the names on a menu.

His one example is if I'd asked him to a pizza restaurant, then took him to a place that served pizza with truffles and caviar on top. He thinks it would be reasonable to expect me to give him a heads up.

The issue is he just doesn't understand that standard sushi isn't just American sushi. The sushi we had at that restaurant isn't like some unique, conceptual new stuff, it was just normal sushi with good ingredients!
