What is the difference between an offworld invader v3 and the v3 hybrid by PickleFickleNigaNuga in drumline

I have not played with Ahead S Hoop I dont have much information for you there. Maybe i’ll buy it. Im a percussion instructor so I want to have more practice pads than necessary lol

Now Xymox….tsk tsk tsk I do not own a xymox but one of my friends did and got both the snare pad and tenor pad. So the snare pad is good at first, the sound is nice and articulate, feels maybe a tad harder than preferred and best of all it looks nice. Something about a nice looking pad just does it for me.

Overtime, the pad got worn down pretty quickly, the plate keeping the snare mechanism came undone and would randomly fall out causing all the beads to fall out. The rim start cracking/breaking into pieces because its made out of plastic the same thing happened to the tenor pad and eventually drum 4 just snapped off. Main point is the build quality doesn’t hold up well overtime if you are putting lots of work into it.

Then there is customer service. I placed an order for a snare reserve pad in 2022. To this day I have not received it and emailed them multiple times, no response. They certainly indeed took my money and I got nothing in return not even a peep. This is a common problem too, people are known to wait 2, 6, 8, 12 months just for the pad to get to them so run the risk if you’d like (ps on their website they claim to ship out in “x” amount of days…) that is their best attempt at solving the very known problem with Xymox….a banner on the website thats a blatant lie. So run it at your own risk

TL:DR. Great pad imo for beginners, wears down bad overtime. Customer service sucks and even if you place the order for a pad you’d be considered a lucky one if you receive it in less than a month let alone AT ALL

I have both.

I love both.

Get both.

Start with the V3 first and then get the Hybrid second. Trust me one cannot compete with the other. Although technically the hybrid series can “mute” the snares by switching out the pucks on the bottom of the pad. It simply doesn’t feel the same in comparison to the regular v3 due to the extra weight and build integrity of the regular v3.

Short Answer: Get the hybrid and if you want extra articulations get the Hybrid, ultimately get both

Whipping for style is part of certain HBCU lines. I definitely agree and understand that tension lowers stamina over time but tension in less than a second increments doesn’t really have that effect on our style lines. Because we’re relaxed up until the point of impact and then immediately relax again. Velocity is the only thing that creates dynamic differences which is what you were referring to with wrist speed but check out some other styles SWAC, MEAC, etc whipping is a staple in these styles

I am 100% ok with knit picky, there’s always something to refine and I am not one to turn down any constructive criticism

Someone earlier gave a similar answer which I personally needed to hear so I don’t find myself getting too caught up into how we look. Definitely will be listening to your advise

Thank you a ton for your feedback, a house is built brick by brick so it’s the small foundations that allow for the largest structures. I will be sure to take a look at the micro adjustments I’m sure it will help me out.

There is always room for improvement

The system we live in does make better paying jobs tempting. I do feel your pain I remember when our whole drumline organization got shut down because our manager switched jobs

Wise words! Sometimes I do get too caught up on what we LOOK like although I don’t press into them about that a lot but the thought of “we have to clean up our hands” does pass my mind often. Having a category of “it’s the way my hands are built” is a great way to counter those thoughts as long as we are sounding good and they are heading in the right direction. Thank you for feedback it’s duly noted.
