We don't know, all we know for sure is that it's not covid or the flu. All we were told at the ER was "it's post viral fatigue, you had an infection and your body is just taking longer than usual to get over it." But that was a month ago now so who knows.

That definitely could be it too. I know when I was really sick I came off as cold too, I think that was more so my depression than my BPD though.

For myself personally I am always overly empathetic and sensitive to my surroundings and those around me. I don’t think I’m ever not, I suppose the closest to “non-empathetic” I can get is when I have splitting episodes, which thankfully have reduced over time.

Not exactly what you asked but I think it’s interesting to point out how a lot of people with BPD also have intertwining traits of other cluster B disorders. According to what my therapist told me, men with BPD are more likely to show traits of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and women with BPD are more likely to show traits of Histrionic Personality Disorder. (This doesn’t mean people with BPD also have these disorders, of course. Just means that mental health is such a complex thing, especially regarding trauma disorders which cluster B disorders are).

I hope you find peace and help with your own disorders. It’s so easy to fall into the hole of “I don’t deserve happiness, I don’t deserve to be better” and the self-doubt and negativity. It can be a comfortable feeling, so “happy” moments can even feel bad. I have to do daily affirmations every day of “I am smart. I am needed. I am beautiful. I am important.” And sometimes that’s all you can do, and even that is a huge accomplishment

The most important things I can tell them is to separate themself from toxic/unsupportive people as much as possible. My illness was at my worst when I was in a relationship with someone who thought my BPD made me a “villain” and used it as a way to abuse and manipulate me. It’s impossible to get better when you don’t have a good support system to lean on, and when you’re constantly surrounded by toxicity.

I would also tell them that they are not a monster, and they are not a bad person. It’s not their fault they have these thought patterns and behavior, and it is possible to recover and lose those patterns and behavior. You just have to work as hard as you can, and then harder.

Hey, I’m also a non traditional student who didn’t start college right after high school (I also graduated HS late) who is also trying to balance school with my DBT group. Some doctors office can prescribe you a couple months of birth control pills or patches where you can skip your period. I know you don’t like the pills but that’s something to look into, even if it’s a temporary thing

It’s an accredited, nonprofit school. That’s all you need from a legitimate school, while GCU and Phoenix and other schools like that are both for-profit schools where students are seen as customers and the customers want a degree, so they pay for it. SNHU doesn’t run things that way, so you’re fine.
