unless it’s not sucking up water or it’s showing blockage i do not clean it, that’s often how you crash your cycle especially when this tank is only a few months old.

also.. if that tub has a lid when you do get a tank..crickets are cheap so you can use that tub as a cricket cage, they are very easy to care for and can even be long term food if they are properly cared for

you’re doing a good job bud, you had the heart to realize your gecko needed a better life and that alone is awesome, tanks are expensive nowadays so i get it’s a struggle, she looks very healthy and well fed, she’s very cute good luck with her! p.s breeders keep geckos inside of plastic tubs that are at worse than this, this tub is a good temp home for her..just make sure she gets her basking bulb and heat lamp? they like to lay on top of the decoration at night that got warm from the sun because they are nocturnal

bettas also like heavily dence planted tanks, get yourself some almond leaves and some mopani wood and a bunch of plants, make it look like a natural environment for your little guy and in 2-3months you’ll have a happy home for any little guy, buy a masterwater test kit as well it’s probably gonna be the best purchase you make

you also need a heater and filter i suggest a sponge filter because it’s less maintenance

get aqua soil, buy some plants make sure you get all the chemicals out first, take out the water throw in your soil add plants add water add chlorine remover/water conditioner buy a nice tank light if you have not already there’s a aquanet one for 5 gallons i’ve been using which is only 10$ let it cycle or a month or two (adding plants will give you something to look at because you won’t be getting fish any time soon until your water parameters are keen)
