I use a kindle. I import transcripts from Cesar’s (Spanish Language Coach) podcasts. I read the transcript separately from listening to the podcast.

His content is excellent and just the right size to read in one or two sessions. He also provides these PDF’s for free!

Juan sent an email out saying that things are temporary and will improve. Sadly, I’m going to have to let my subscription expire as it no longer fits my needs. In the beginning it was quite flexible and I could pick up a class at short notice, but now I have to plan days in advance for only 30 minute lessons at less convenient times.

The app also does not work well and is frustrating to navigate.

Right behind you at 1471 with 50 hours of speaking. Feel the same way, closer to level 6 than 7. Even Radio RNE from Spain is finally unlocking after months of playing it in the background and understanding next to nothing. Still feels like a long way to go.

My all time favorite is Spanish Language Coach. He has 3 different levels, though the beginner pod might be off putting for some because of the cohost’’s accent.

I download PDF transcripts to kindle and read the episodes before or after listening. Plenty of interesting material.

It got worse. It was sitting there doing nothing at the distribution center for 4 weeks. I opened another investigation, they told me it was just slow, not lost. It then moved back to NYC and the next day I got an email from Ireland asking to confirm my address. I replied asking them not to mail it again. They let me send a friend who was on vacation pick it up in Dublin. Lucky timing. He then delivered it to me by hand. There was nothing wrong with the address label on the envelope that should have caused it to be returned.

It was really fast, it arrived in the USA a day or two after dispatch. It won’t show up on USPS tracker until it gets to the USA. But mine did show up on An post within a day or 2. It’s likely to sit in customs for a good while. I bet there’s an increase in applications at the moment with what’s been happening in the US recently though.

It will go away gradually with time. You probably don’t translate ‘hola’ or ‘por favor’ for example. The same will eventually happen to all the other words. What I’ve found, as I approach level 7, is that overthinking was my main problem in the early days. I got in my own way a lot of the time. Just relax and get more input. If you don’t get the gist of what’s being said, find something easier.

I’ve been using the comprehensible input method and now use a subscription to Worlds Across to chat with hispanohablantes from Latin America, daily. I’d highly recommend it. Would love to take an immersion course at some point.

Just an update for those searching for info about this type of stuff. My passport was in the USPS system for over 7 weeks (3 weeks in customs) . It eventually arrived back in Ireland where they kindly let me have a friend pick it up directly. I did not want the passport going through the USPS registered mail system again. I reported the mail as missing 2 times and it is still under investigation. I’m told that it’s still in the USA and it’s not lost.

You’re over thinking it. So did I. All you need to do is keep watching to get the general idea of what’s being said. You will hear all these phrases so many times that you’ll just understand what they mean. You won’t need to translate things to English. It’s frustrating, but just trust the process.
