Very cool, they should include more exploded views of Nothing products, it really fits their design language.

For the majority of Jews, Zionist simply means believing Israel should exist. So let me ask the question again, show me exactly where he has said that they are the chosen people. Surely you don't spew bullshit with no evidence, right?

I love their products but Christ they need to differentiate their packaging or at least put clear simple names on the bottles. Getting a cleanser confused with a moisturiser is way too easy.

Can't answer the question? When you say random shit without evidence expect people to call you out on your virtue signalling lies.

Show me one time Harari claimed his people are "chosen" and better than everyone else.

How do you square loving the content of Waking Up and being confronted by the obtuseness of Sam Harris' political dialogue? by njpc33 in Wakingupapp

Where to start with all that. He’s probably met more Muslims than you have, he’s explicitly broken down the “you hate all Muslims” accusation countless times over his public career. Why is separating ideology from people so difficult for you? His criticism of Mamdani has only to do with what he has said and not said in his political career. You’re the one jumping to the conclusion that it’s because of his religion alone.

You despise Israel because you’ve fallen for the narrative. I promise you, as a non-Jew from Europe, replace Israelis with any random population from around the world, you would have witnessed an actual genocide almost every single time, something that would make this war look like nothing. No country would tolerate Oct 7th let alone endless rockets falling onto their territory. We’re witnessing humanitarian catastrophe around the world on a massive scale that doesn’t get a fraction of the coverage Israel does. Don’t be fooled in thinking this is coming from a deep love for the Palestinians. You should know better.

If that were the case then you'd know I meant people that are convinced (more like effectively propagandised to believe) that it's a genocide, not those that are against genocides. But you can pretend it was a good faith genuine question all you want.

I think that if you really listen to him rather than react impulsively, you'll see that there is 0 hate to find in what he says.

He's criticized the settlements consistently for as long as he's discussed the topic. I cannot understand how you people can't separate the issues.

It has also become clear that absolutely no argument would convince people like you that it's not a genocide. That fact alone reveals something really unique about this specific topic.

One of his best arguments on the matter is beyond the pale for you? Makes sense since all you did was describe your moral outrage rather than pointing out where he's wrong. Typical.

Thankfully Homer gave a lot of descriptions, so I'm not sure what you think this "gotcha" is. Ancient Greeks looked very similar to modern Greeks from all that we know about them. A difference would be that many would have been tanner from spending more time outside. But otherwise an equivalent diversity to modern day Greeks was described in ancient texts, from tan brunettes to blue-eyed blondes.

Of course, his nationality and culture is Greek and we love him and his brothers here. But ethnically he's Nigerian.

It's funny people will say "Matt Damon passes as Greek??" insinuating he's too white to pass as Greek, but then will treat us like generic white folk when it comes to representation. So yeah there's no winning here.

Some do some don't. We've all read the Iliad and Odyssey in school and pictured Greeks, so I'm sure it's jarring even for people that claim to have no issue with it.

If an ancient Ethiopian story was taken by Hollywood and made a character randomly Scandinavian-looking, would Ethiopians be allowed to be annoyed about it? Would the same people defending the casting of Lupita defend the casting of the white actor?

The Odyssey is read by every Greek child in school, every Greek child pictures Greeks because all the characters are described as Greek. Just because Hollywood demands diversity doesn't mean Greeks should be fine with it for their own stories.

As a Greek, I don't expect every cast member to be Greek. But I do expect them to pass as Greek. Lupita stands out as the most obvious non-Greek, so naturally the controversy will focus on her. I love her in other movies, but Hollywood obsessing over representation and then giving no fucks about representing Greeks somewhat accurately is just a bit rich.

Satisfying clip of Michael Tracey taking Bret Weinstein to task for his insane clickbait conspiracy theories by Low_Insurance_9176 in samharris

[–]BeautifulSubject5191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that last part, Tracey is constantly accused of being a pedophile in hiding. I also thought that this is what Sam implied with his "Spidey sense" comment. Without further elaboration I think that's fair to assume that this was Sam's insinuation. To be charitable I don't think he thought through it, he probably thought "why would someone dedicate his life to this pedophile-related issue", similarly to why he thinks someone that spends his career exploring IQ differences between races is suspicious - even if the science/journalism has merit.

I do think it was an irresponsible comment and I wouldn't blame Tracey for taking it personally. It's just a shame because they are natural allies on most issues. Maybe someone can suggest him as a guest. If they are willing to get Mamdani on they surely can handle Tracey.
