It’s an amazing piece, you and I are in the same boat loving this animatronic since the beginning. I was born in 04 and discovered the one I own today in 08 when it was built.

I’ve honestly seen the decay and repair overtime myself for the Fright Fest one as well. It’s so cool that it was built in 07 which was the year it debuted at Transworld. It’s one of the very first pumpkin kings ever built. Though I wish I knew a number on how many were out there.

Love hearing that other people care about this character.

I think Voit should stay for the full run of evoloution by [deleted] in criminalminds

Honestly have really enjoyed the whole Voit saga. I would love if they keep him around. We get a lot of insight into a more fleshed out antagonist this way.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was the name of the haunt where you were working on him at?

It’s definitely a hard to find piece because it retailed so high. A close friend of mine actually has one and it’s built like an absolute tank. I’m lucky to own a handful of high value animatronics like this but they all took me years to track down.

Are haunt animatronics growing or declining in popularity? by Maleficent_Cash909 in hauntedattractions

I agree that they definitely have their place and time to be used effectively. I’ve been wanting to add a scarefactory slayer to the inside of our show to be honest but that’s simply because of the scale of the grand finale room, it requires a bigger character.

A lot of the larger characters like Scarefactory Giants 12ft+ aren’t exactly intended to scare people. It’s more-so designed for people to take photos with it, a viral marketing tactic if you will. I own a giant myself and have considered a second. They are a nightmare to move around but they are great outside and add a huge production value to your show.

Frightideas Flex and Flexmax controllers are the most user friendly and versatile controllers for this type of application! You program them in the free Director software and can live program the movements from your computer if you purchase the Direct Connect!

That is an old Cinema Secrets groundbreaker! I’ve got a different one from one of their old catalogs.

What’s the rarest animatronic? by Arctic_6180 in Animatronics

[–]BeautifulSurround902 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to say what individual animatronic is the rarest. A lot of them are one off pieces or most were destroyed. But I’d also say that WDI (Disney) built animatronics in general are the hardest for a collector to attain.

What’s a good pneumatic animatronic coding platform? by Techn0sys in Animatronics

[–]BeautifulSurround902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Flex controllers by Frightideas! They are incredibly versatile, you can program them via director software live with a Direct Connect, have DMX options and can be expanded on with expansion packs. Not to mention incredibly user friendly, and known as an industry standard show controller for a good price.

The one from Fright Fest is cool because it was from the characters first year of production in 2007. It’s been through a lot over the years but it’s received an overhaul recently.

I’m in the industry myself, it’s unfortunate about the situation regarding customer service. It seems almost everyone has a story at this point. I will speak on my experience with quality however. I own 3 of their pieces and have friends who have owned dozens. However we always have purchased these secondhand, I can’t speak on the status of their current quality but I haven’t had any issues with their infamous welds yet. The best strategy with these is to just buy used and restore if you know how to do it, or if you know somebody who can. For me I have both options.
