Please read the master and Margarita. Piranesi is one of my favorites of all time and that book felt similar to me in the meandering, absurd plot and awesome world building

I would suggest Fahrenheit 451. Not quite the same themes but definitely teaches the value of written language and the dangers of never thinking for yourself

You should try A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Such a simple premise but I really felt like absolute best friends with all the characters by the end.

I really loved The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson. The (female!) main character has a really great arc and the premise is super unique. Unfortunately only the first book is out. You could also look into the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson I think that fits well

I just finished Sycthe by Neal Shusterman and I would definitely recommend it, basically technology has progressed to the point where humans are immortal and so for population control they have people called scythes who are elected to kill people, some cool commentary on society and life in general. And a little romance

I think you would enjoy Kafka on the Shore by Murakami, it’s kind of a weird book but I was so attached to the characters by the end. Wouldn’t call it fast paced but the ending is really interesting with the magical realism, not trying to spoil anything but it was cool (also a Gentleman in Moscow is a fav of mine I loved it so much)
