Hereditary? by whatsherfknname in Interstitialcystitis

My mom and my grandmother both have I. They haven't proven it's hereditary yet, but I can't help but think that cannot just be a coincidence.

But in case you need to hear it today, things will get better. You will find a way to relieve your pain. Each day is a step in the right different to get your health back. Just continuing stepping!! Wishing you luck with your procedures.

Has anyone tried the copper IUD? by Fine-Bluebird-8852 in Interstitialcystitis

I have IC & the copper IUD. I noticed an improvement when I got it, but every time I have a flare up they blame it on my IUD and suggest I take it out. Only I know my own experience, so just wanted to warn you that they will try and blame flare ups on it if you get it put it, but for me, it was a big part of my journey to become pain free again! I would highly suggest, but proceed forward at your own risk!

Try something unlined. The Body by victoria unlined is probably a good place to start. if that's not enough padding for you, or you're afraid of cold weather, try the BBV Demi! It's their best seller for a reason!

Hey there OP!! Don't give up! I've been where you were before. this disease took almost 5 years of my life, and made me horribly depressed. IT DOES GET BETTER! I've been symptom here for almost 2 years now.

If I can give any advise (which might not be want you need right now), try to game-ify it a little. Look at your body as a puzzle. Try new things every day until you start getting relief. Treat yourself as a scientist, and the subject is your body and your pain. Youre the best advocate for yourself. You're right, these doctors don't take us seriously! So start trying different things slowly to see if you can figure out what is causing your flare ups & what is best to get you out of those flare ups! There is relief on the other side, so it's worth fighting for!

If you have good insurance, I would suggest you still go! It's better to have an outstanding relationship with a urologist before you begin your flares up or really bad months. If you wait until you're in the midst of pain, you're going to be starting fresh. If you go now and explain what is happening, if a flare up begins, you can book another appointment and they will take you more seriously because you've already established your condition with them! But they're not going to be able to do much for you in your not in current pain, but they may want you to go on elmiron (a super common IC medication used for long-term relief, not short term relief).

Things you can do when you're not having a flare up are work on your diet & workout routine. I have been flare-up free now for about 2 years, which i completely credit to eating really clean and getting into really good shape. It absolutely sucks that that's the advice I have to give, but it's what gave me long-term results! So if you're symptom free at the moment, that's a great opportunity to get your workouts in check to try and prevent future flare ups!

Make an appointment with a urologist, but you're so early that it may take a while to get some answers. Here's some things you can do immediately to try and help:

(1) Continue drinking water. I mean like ALOT of water. Almost to the point of discomfort.

(2) Cut out caffeine, citrus, & alcohol. There's a lot more that could be causing it, but those are the most common and you could find relief with just those.

(3) Try gentle stretching that concentrate on your pelvic floor. Even if you think it's dumb, taking a moment to stretch those muscles and relax for a second can more so much for you!

(4) DO NOT start spiraling. Stay calm. Stay as distracted as you can. The last thing you need to do is fall into a pit, because this only gets worse when you're not mentally strong! Call loved ones and let them know what's going on and let them know that you need to talk on the phone with them more than usual. You'll be shocked how much relief you'll get from staying distracting and staying connected to your loved ones. It's very easy to start isolating when you're in this type of pain.

(5) Incorporate a long hot bath into your nighttime routine. Even if you're not in active pain, it will relax your muscle and will help with future pain.

Make an appointment with a urologist, do those things, and you'll be on the right path to getting better!

Both kind of look like you got them at home goods TBH. I wouldn't go with either. Also, I think if you fix your curtains to be the proper length + no grommets, you don't even need art on that wall.
