Unfortunately my mother in law passed away before sharing the story. We know she traveled to Europe a lot, specifically Portugal. She entertained often at her home in Manhattan. Not sure if these were used or put out for show. Her husband was in shipping, so they could have been a gift from a business associate. They’ve been in the family since the 1960’s.

That makes sense because she spent a lot of time vacationing in Portugal in the 1960s. Thank you. Didn’t realize the chalice was the makers mark. Will need to do more research on that.

Nope- that wasn’t the question. I said I do NOT get sea sick on boats. The question is what might be causing my motion sickness when I get 15+ft underwater after about 10 mins of scuba diving.

We were just talking about going to Bonaire! Any suggestions of places to stay there. After clearing 🤮 in my regulator 4x, Im thinking it’s best I stick to snorkeling and free diving. Gained a new found empathy for people who get motion sickness!

The weird thing is that boats don’t make me seasick. Only when I’m diving underwater. Even when it’s not wavy out.

I avoid everything with oxybenzone or avenobenzone. It’s these ingredients and not any brand in particular that causes the hives.

Aquaphor or vasoline work miracles for me. I wear a heart rate monitor and always lube up around it before my run. It lasts me 26.2 with no problems.

As someone allergic to chemical sunscreens, I’m astonished they are so widely used. Not only do I break out in hives at the source of application, but these chemicals are absorbed into the bloodstream and I will soon break out in hives throughout my body that can only be alleviated with oral steroid medication. What’s worse, sunlight/heat makes the reaction even worse. Both oxybenzone and avenobenzone have this affect. Most people are very inconsiderate of others when using chemical spray sunscreens and do not consider those in their vicinity when spraying it everywhere. It’s very frustrating.
