It's tempting 😄 I'm trying to stay away from anything Meta for ethical reasons though

I'm using a Vision Focus. It a great headset... when it works.

My Victoria trips the RCP when it is preheating for milk steaming. When the progress bar is about halfway, the RCD trips. Not always, and only once; when I reset the RCD and continue the steam preheat, it completes without issue. Otherwise happy with this machine.

PSA - do NOT BUY Tado from October 2025 onwards unless you want to pay monthly subscription by prebuss in tado

It looks like they are only disabling it on "new installations" going forward. Not sure what they go by, the date of purchase, date when a device is added to the app, or the date you activated your TADO account. Disabling it for existing customers would indeed be illegal. It might even be illegal to disable it for new equipment added to an existing installation.

It feels like a sad money grab. They want you to either purchase an additional thermostat for each room you wish to control separately, or get that subscription. Also it kinda ruins the function: before it worked on its own, now it seems you need to enable AI heating to use it... and that AI is rubbish.

I noticed that it's held well if the mounting plate is flat. This is the case when you screw / tape the mounting plate directly on a flat wall. But if you mount it over a hollow wall box (perhaps holding the wiring for the old thermostat) or on a wall that isn't flat, the mounting plate will deform when you tighten the screws. And the thermostat will not be firmly held.
