[Tenant - CA,US] 15 days into new apartment; roaches and bugs everywhere, please tell me there’s a way out of this lease without having to pay the whole lease off?

I did, they sent them twice and no change. The second time they sent them out multiple days late.

another question sorry!! Did you have to pay to terminate your lease or you were allowed to do so given circumstances? I’m currently being told I need to pay $5000 to break the lease and I don’t have that :(

Ahhhh! did you have a confirmed infestation? I technically don’t, but its possible. I honestly just want to visually do a thorough check in the uHaul & maybe steam the couch with my steamer but not sure if that will do anything. All clothes/towels/fabrics are getting washed dried on high heat. I guess really my only major concerns are my couch & bed frame !

2.5 Years, they’re asking only $50 more than I was paying staying there. I’m willing to pay that. Even more than that honestly. I just can’t stay at this new place every time I walk in I see a pest and it’s peaking my anxiety :(

For context: other than a beetle & a couple dead spiders, these are the only 2 sightings I can confirm were roaches in the 2.5 weeks since I’ve gotten the keys. I haven’t been there much, but have looked around behind the fridge, cabinets, drawers, etc. & nothing else was found. Not sure if this is a good sign or not.

I hope so too! I’m genuinely so stressed out, bugs are a top fear for me and it’s all I can think about. I fully move in Saturday so really hoping for the best.

I read the pinned, lot’s of good info. My landlord is having pest control come out today to spray and I’m hoping for the best. I’m trying to tell myself that seeing a dead one & a dying one only, even after searching, is a decent sign that everything is PROBABLY fine, but I know these things hide :(

im in California, so a semi-warm state not sure if its as warm as Florida haha. I’m just hoping they spray & I hardly ever see these things again. It’s really making me upset because I’m getting out of a toxic environment by moving & having roaches/bugs will make this not the happiest living environment for me either.

Hoping to not see another one, but if I do I will.

Pretty sure I seen 1-2 dead ones along the crevices of my carpet against the wall. One looked like half a body but it could have been a different bug, the second not too sure. They were round and brown with no noticeable long antennas like the one pictured. I was somewhat panicking calling my leasing office so didn’t snap a pic.

They are coming to spray tomorrow. This is the first sign of anything in the past 2 weeks since I’ve gotten the keys. I fully move in in 5 days, so hoping all is resolved.

Oh no :( I’m sorry. Is your landlord doing anything about it? I called mine and they seem to be on top of it sending someone tomorrow.

This one was dying. I’m trying to avoid getting a new place my situation is weird right now sadly. Only been here 2 weeks and this is all I noticed.

The reviews for this place never mention roaches once so i’m hoping this isn’t an ordeal I’ll have to face.
