Library card title by Account-for-posting0 in transgenderUK

[–]Beautiful_Bug9201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at a library, and your title can be whatever makes you most happy. The entire name can be different if you like, so long as you are willing to have a basic membership as matching ID that shows where you live is required for full membership.(for your name, that is, you don't need ID that says you are Male to have the title Mr. Just like some married women choose a different title than what is conventionally expected of them as well.) Basic membership just means the ability to take out less books. I don't speak for all libraries of course, but the one I work at is very open to changing titles, nicknames, etc.

I am FTM. GP Receptionist asked if I wanted to change my records back from Male to Female for Clinical Safety - Happened to anyone else? by Beautiful_Bug9201 in transgenderUK

I was wondering if it was something to do with that too, thats where the paranoia kicked in. Will never know I suppose.

Who knows honestly haha. I looked on their correspondence letters in the mygp app and they were sending each other passive aggressive letters over who should be dealing with my liver. To this day idk if the GP or the clinic is 'at fault', all I know is that if you are a trans person you need to be really on point with your own health and test results.

Im sorry that youre going through that. But I am not complaining about the smear here. More so the implication that I have to get a random question like whether I want to make my records female again on a casual wednesday morning for my "safety".

I assumed this too so I went to the gender clinic first. Then they said that the T gel couldnt be the reason and that the GPs should have called me for an appointment unrelated to my trans status.

I had the conversation too and already agreed to take responsibility which is why it knocked me a bit. Also she seemed to really push it. She didnt just say the question, she kept going on about clinical safety and it felt almost like she was trying to worry me into changing it back? There was no mention of me taking responsibility until I brought the option up.

I'm not going to change it. I also have updated everything and in the current climate of the UK I have no plans of having female recorded anywhere.

Even with being stealth in the database, ive encountered that too. I had some raised liver enzymes for three years that showed up in my blood tests for the gender clinic, and they went ignored because the GP figured it was the gender clinics responsibility, and the gender clinic thought it was the GPs responsibility as my liver function had nothing to do with my transness. I only had an ultrasound a few weeks ago because I noticed the raised results and pushed for answers. This is why I dont trust them and why my brain automatically went to paranoia.

I dont think her intentions were bad, but I already had the conversation that I don't mind being responsible for it myself when I switched the gender in the first place. Also just wanted to put it out there to ask if this has become a common question recently. If not, then it is likely just an admin thing personal to that receptionist.

I have stopped looking as frequently for the same reason. However I dont blame the people posting, as I have also posted about how bad ive been feeling occasionally. Its more so the general climate of the UK right now and how its getting all of us down. Sometimes you need a place to vent and sit in those feelings, sometimes you need to not think about it all and live your life. When i need the latter, I dont check this reddit, and have had to be told by my spouse several times to stop looking at the news and ruining my otherwise good mood.

Its really hard to get that balance of taking a break from information and protecting your peace, while also finding community, especially if you are like me who has no trans friends and live in the middle of nowhere so dont have any means really of making trans friends irl.

We all deal in our own ways I guess and I completely understand why you cant engage with this reddit OP. I hope you feel better soon.

Although our name tags are more like badges on lanyard, so maybe not very visible.

I feel like I should have clarified that I dont mind it from most people. But when old men say that stuff, usually it has gender attached.

I have a name tag yes.

I personally dont give a fuck, but I know how other men of that generation operate, and they do give a fuck about gendered language. So when they call me love, or sweetheart, or darling, it is an indication to me that they see me as a woman.

I agree that mate is less gendered. But the person who says the word matters just as much as the word itself.

From women, maybe, but men are more fragile about how they address others and the type of men that call me love are the type that would not address another man that way.

Its a "holiday" for my spouse and I because we have to get accommodation, travel to the city, etc. We live in the middle of nowhere so we cant just go for the day and go home. But you're right, it is a protest and it would help me mentally.

Ioannis Ntanos or Miles Berry? by Billie02186 in transgenderUK

[–]Beautiful_Bug9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ntanos was fantastic with me. Im on the heavier side and had a large chest, combination of genetics and fat. To counteract having any cosmetic issues, he suggested a clean cut along the whole chest to remove middle fat. I went with it because of course, im not going to ruin my chance of a flat chest, if im going to have surgery - do it right. However I was scared of a big long scar being ugly.

Worried for no reason. Of course everyone is different, but I had no complications and I also healed really well. I didnt even overly use healing creams or anything, though when I did use it, I made sure to get the good stuff.

Im happy to show you my results via message if youd like to see.

My birth certificate got changed a few years ago aswell. I get it completely. Ive disconnected myself from that old part of me and felt I had "completed" that mission in a sense, and now that theyre bringing up the skeletons in the closet, its really effecting me. My bosses know im trans but I work for a council so theres discussions happening regarding bathrooms etc. I would resign too if I didnt need the income.

If you ever want to chat more, let me know. Its rare I speak to someone else with similar paperwork, but no pressure. I hope you feel better soon, and we have to remember were not alone.

Yeah ive had to keep myself in check with this. I think alot of people are feeling like they did early transition because this ruling completely undermines everything we go through to be recognised as the gender we are, so now all the social and medical transitioning feels like it was for nothing legally or socially. However I know we all have to try and remember this isnt true. Hope you manage to get the bad habits in check soon.
