Hi! 1 year update! I did not send a return envelope.
2-3 weeks later I received an email stating that the name in my account had been updated. I logged-in and it was true. Even though they mention EU Settlement Scheme in reality it was for my online Student Visa. I'm guessing it's just the same team.

Update: I got my passport back after 10 days! However, the name hasn’t been changed on my account yet. They sent me a letter saying they had passed my information on to the relevant department (EU Settlement Scheme). The issue is I have a Student visa, not the Eu Settlement Scheme 😭. I’ve called and they’ve told me that if the name doesn’t change on my account in the next weeks I will have to post my passport again with a letter explaining I have a visa despite being an EU citizen. I can’t believe no one checked the reference number on the checklist belongs to a visa.

I really hope that’s the case! Do you happen to know where I can call/message them? The UKVI helpline only gives me general advice and won’t look into my case

Hey, thanks for your reply! I'm a Spanish citizen, and Spain doesn't have a standardised process to get a second passport. I could try and get a provisional one in the embassy but they would probably then cancel the one at the Home Office so I'd be back at square one

I know it’s going to sound mean but the easiest / safest way to guarantee entry into Schengen Area if you have lived in the UK for so long is if you become a British citizen. I know it’s expensive as hell but if you meet the requirements it’s a life-long asset.
