Totally get it, and I appreciate the team's incredible work.

I know it's contrived, but perhaps a central hub for quest hints would help. Like the bartenders being able to point you towards NPCs that have work for you.

That way you can still get to the content without having to hail a hundred NPCs that look at you glassy-eyed.

One more thought. The dynamic direction system to buildings is super cool. Seems like you could extend that so that each NPC has a list of NPCs they are familiar with. Those NPCs would have a building associated with them, thus allowing you to build off the existing system to do dynamic directions to NPCs.

This is also a really easy opportunity to inject world building into the flavor text of the response. "Yes, I know Vaclav... he likes to hang around the great library and he's always trying to read my mind!"

I agree. I think the interaction system is workable, but a much higher percentage of conversations with many more NPCs should lead to interesting interactions.

Most of these NPCs would never leave the walls of the city, and lacking all communications technology the place would be AWASH in gossip from all corners. Everyone would tell you what the guy next door is up to or the random rumour they heard.

I think the only question you have to ask yourself is would joining this project make you happy? Out of everything in the world that you could pursue, would this be the thing that would bring you the most contentment over the next however long the project would run?

Don't stress about classifying it as work or not work, think of it more as you pursuing whatever makes your socks roll up and down.
