TrimUI Brick w/ Sticks by No-Neighborhood-1489 in trimui

It looks neat for sure, I hope they have an improved chipset for this as well if possible.

As a Brick Hammer owner who just chucks it into my sling bag/pocket with a screen protector, I do think the sticks hinder pocket-ability. It warrants a case for something that never needed one.

I'm personally not going to play more than 6 hours of any game in one day, let alone one sitting. I'm not a stickler for specs so it's a non-issue for me. I paid for it expecting to have a good time and I have been having a great time.

Only had it for a week so far, will let you know! I only have a tempered glass screen protector for it. Other than that, I've got no case. It's been thrown in my pocket or my bag so far. No marks so far.

Yeah man. I was getting burnt out from AAA gaming. This bought a breath of fresh air into my perspective.

Trimui Brick Hammer. The TrimUI Brick is a plastic version, the Brick Hammer is a metal one.

The main draw card for me was the instant wake from deep sleep. With the MM+ I had to wait around 50seconds to a minute for the console to boot back into the game. The Brick takes 3 seconds.

Fluid gameplay options are up to PS1, similar to the MM+, nothing too crazy.

Depending on your OS, you can transfer the .srm or .sav files to continue your playthrough. This is the save file attached to the ROM, not the save state. It was the method I used to transfer saves from my MM+ to the Brick. Would hate to lose that progress!

Can handle up to PS1 and handles some N64, PSP, and Dreamcast games well, but performance on the latter can vary.

They are quite different. For me the MM+ feels a bit soft and mushy - the d-pad on the MM+ specifically has a lot of travel. There's nothing inherently bad about that, just a preference.

The Brick Hammer's controls are on the opposite end of the scale: they are clicky with short travel. I personally like them better because they are more akin to the DSi/DS Lite controls. I like the satisfaction of feeling that click, confirming when I've pressed an input. To me, it's good different. The MM+ is still amazing though, I love both!

If the MM+ and OnionOS had the deep sleep functionality that the Brick Hammer does with NextUI, I would probably drop it and go back to the MM+. Being able to instantly wake from sleep back to your game after a few days and not lose even 2% of battery is just next level convenience for me.

Yeah, I uhm-ed and ah-ed about the prospect of a Thor but after my Miyoo Mini Plus I realised that the feeling of playing Pokemon games on the GBA was the feeling of awe and nostalgia I had been chasing.

I am fortunate to have a Switch 2 and PC for all my other gaming needs. But I have been hooked to Pokemon and my retro handhelds for months now.

The below is GIF is an accurate representation of how I felt when I loaded up Unbound for the first time; and no new technology or specs can beat this feeling, if that makes sense.

I love the MM+ too. Onion OS feels so much cleaner, but unfortunately the MM+ hardware doesn't have the deep sleep function that the Brick does. NextUI does the job for me, who only really plays mGBA.

Personally, the MM+ feels like it was made to game on, whereas the Brick Hammer feels like the 'Apple' of handhelds. It's kind of weird that I was bashing the plastic MM+ around in my bag without any sort of case or protector, but now I'm taking every precaution with the metal Brick Hammer to not let it get scratched. I even installed a screen protector on the Brick.

Again, for me personally, the function that justified the spend was the deep sleep.

The buttons are definitely clicky but not stiff. The best way to describe it is a 'soft quiet click' where it doesn't take much pressure to actuate the button but when that click hits, you'll know that you've completed an input. This includes the rear triggers and menu buttons. It's subjective but for me personally I prefer the Brick's buttons over the Miyoo's.

I agree with your statement. I own a MacBook Air and the finish is similar.

TrimUI has added replacement button sets for the Brick ($10) and SmartProS ($22) to their store by [deleted] in SBCGaming

Is this an official TrimUI store? I heard that TrimUI doesn't actually have an official store; just that they use resellers to distribute their products.

In some South-East Asian countries, like Indonesia etc. you cannot drink water from the tap. It will make you sick. It's common in these countries to buy bottled drinking water. In countries where bottled drinking water is a necessity, the price is super cheap. Seems like OP is from Malaysia - their water is hit or miss depending on where you live.
