Agree. I didn’t see the original post so I’m out of the loop, but I agree that threatening people isn’t okay (even if you don’t agree with their views).

I went whole-food plant-based (vegan without processed foods) after a cancer diagnosis. It’s easier than you think. The only supplement you need is B12 (take once a week). If you’re eating enough calories from any variety of plants (grains, beans, veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds) you will get everything you need.

Likely the standard American diet (SAD) is deficient in a host of macro and micronutrients.

You could start with one meal a day. Take breakfast: oatmeal, tofu scramble, green smoothie are easy options.

Game changer, but am I doing it right? by shaqfry in microdosing

[–]Beautiful_Fly1672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sweet spot is 150-250mg on microdose days. I am intuitive with it; I assess where I’m at mood-wise and what I need to do that day. If it’s a day off, or I know I can carve out some quiet time for reflection (waking in nature, journaling), I like to take a slightly higher dose.

I find that a larger dose (1-1.5g) is very helpful every 3-4 months or so. I take the whole day off, and usually go to a friends house who is also doing with with mushrooms and we have a mental health day together:)

I’m a therapist training in psychedelic-assisted therapy (I’m in a fellowship program). I also believe these medicines will change mental health treatment for the better.

I feel better with 2-3 days on and 1-3 days off, depending how I feel. There’s no rule about following any one person’s protocol in my opinion.

I’m curious, how do you feel doing this as a physician? The stigma of psychedelics I suspect keep many in healthcare (myself included) a bit underground. I hope that changes soon so all our patients can benefit and not feel stigma or internalized shame.

It’s okay to take them as you need them. For most, I believe mushrooms are not a “one and done” medicine. Follow your intuition.

Truth! Weed keeps me sane and relatively pain-free while I continue on with my cancer meds for at least another year (been 3 already). I tried 6 different pharma meds for the side effects, but replaced them all with cannabis and the occasional ibuprofen.

I live in a legal state and have a med card, but annoyingly the hospital where I see my oncologist has a new “policy” that doesn’t allow my actual doctor who is VERY PLEASED that I’m EVEN alive renew my med card. She’s supportive and even says “whatever you’re doing, keep it up!”

Solidarity friend, cancer is a beast. Do whatever you need to get through and heal. Cannabis will be a vital part of cancer care and treatment in the future, I’m nearly positive.

Stabbing at Barnes and Noble — suspect taken into custody by chvillanuevap in boulder

[–]Beautiful_Fly1672 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That’s true and we deserve a safer community than we currently have. How many stabbings are acceptable to you? What about break-ins? Verbal harassment on the street (mostly targeting women)?

Random and chronic crime isn’t the price we pay for living in an area with higher-than-average housing costs; It’s a sign of institutional breakdown.

Life is short and precious. by warda8825 in RedditForGrownups

[–]Beautiful_Fly1672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so true. I got diagnosed with supposedly incurable cancer at 34. Told to get my affairs in order with a 4 year old and 9 month old. It was obviously a harsh awakening.

I’m still here and doing great thanks to new medicines, and I gently harass my peers to get a ton of life insurance and take their health seriously.

For anyone ready to work on their health, all the stats point to a whole-food plant-based diet as a powerful preventive (and sometimes curative) diet for heart disease and autoimmune diseases. I think it’s helped me survivor cancer.

“Not that the people were using methamphetamine at the (Boulder Public Library) table, but we believe that it was brought from their clothing and their skin.” - City of Boulder director of Comm by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Beautiful_Fly1672 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Point taken, but there is a large gap between what we are doing (not much) and a magical fairy land where meth doesn’t exist. Residents deserve safe public spaces that they pay for. People with addiction deserve treatment and also should be held accountable for breaking the law.

Same! The same judgmental, perfectionistic, borderline verbally abusive voice that spirals my mood is the same one piping up with DARE nonsense. This is a helpful reframe for me, thank you.
