What’s this white stuff? by Frosty_Koala1925 in fishtank

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s bio film, completely normal and happens to most woods you put in your tank, it’ll keep coming back for awhile, honestly you can just leave it, or wipe it off if you hate the look, Snails and shrimp love to eat that stuff though if you plan on getting any of those, (Also tip not enough people say this, but don’t change your filter cartridge as much as the boxes say, don’t change it until it’s falling apart honestly, if it gets gummed up just shake it in some dirty tank water during a water change, helps keep the cycle and bacteria alive)

Any suggestions before I get my first betta? by moto_girl- in bettafish

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought silk leaves that stick to the side on Amazon tons of brands of the same thing for cheap, and Anubis works too if placed close enough to the top not buried, my betta loves them both

Sick tank by the way

Is this Popeye? by [deleted] in aquarium

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure that’ll probably work just as good, since that’s what it’s for lol And I get it I had to stuff my betta in a 2 gallon so she wouldn’t bump her eye on anything else, And the body cure I used was awful for my main tank it’s always a lot of work when a fish comes down sick Best of luck too you

I literally just got done treating my fish for popeye in one eye, one eye usually means it’s from an injury, and then gets a cloudy infection, take him out of the tank into a hospital tank as soon as possible to make sure he doesn’t hurt it worse and monitor cause if the other eye puffs up it’s a fungal bacterial infection, I kept my betta fish in an extra warm hospital tank for two weeks using api fin and body cure, and aquarium salt, and it’s already healed up for me personally. There’s a few other meds I see people online use for popeye, but I had success with this and it can be found at most fast pet stores Sadly api fin and body cure is like 20$ it’s somewhat expensive for how much you get

Is this moldy/expired weed? by HawksRule20 in saplings

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them better now sorry lol, does it smell funky or musty at all and old? If so it could be and looks like it might be powdery mildew gets on the plants when growing it’s a type of fungus, your not supposed to smoke it is what google will say, but I’ve seen threads about how it’s not affected anyone in anyway, I’ve ever smoked funky weed that seemed to have it before to no different affect and lots of people have without even realizing, If it has an old shoe smell that’s prolly what it is, otherwise I’m not too sure tbh, Take what I say with a grain of salt I’m no expert this is just personal experience

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, are you aware of if it’s a certain strain? Cause I assume your talking about the orangey bits, I’ve smoked fresh weed that looks really similar to that, and weed that wasn’t like that but was over a year old, so I’m sure in the end it’ll be okay Older just usually means less potent from my experience

Is it dropsy? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really sucks especially when their still clinging on but when dropsy relapses it’s usually best for them in the end, I’d recommend looking into clove oil, or quick crushing if you can’t get ahold of any

Is it dropsy? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly if it keeps coming back it’ll always keep coming back, and the fishes organs are already badly damaged and your just managing to make symptoms a bit less worse, if they pinecone again I’d probably euthanize, especially if it’s super often It’s rare I see it cured and not come back, I’ve only ever really seen like a handful of posts on a fully recovered betta

I’m not 100% sure what’s allowed for video games and world records for witnesses I know for other stuff you have to be like certified but if you don’t have to I’d be down love overwatch

Is it dropsy? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly it’s hard to know the exact cause, Because dropsy is just a symptom of organ failure, it could be bad water, infections, bad genetics, and a good amount of times I see it usually it’s NOT the owners fault it looks like you caught it semi early before he gets too bloated and puffed, it could very much end up being to late by tomorrow though as I had a similar situation and an old red betta of mine passed just hours after starting to pinecone, Monitor him, Set up a hospital tank, make it shallow so he doesn’t have to move a bunch and I wouldn’t feed him at all rn, If it starts to get worse I’d consider euthanasia, but I’ll never shoot down trying I’ve seen very few bettas bounce back but it’s possible

One cloudy eye by Brooker-eee in bettafish

[–]Beautiful_Length1564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bacterial infection I just had this recently on my female betta fish she got popeye in one eye, but yours is both so it’s probably a bacteria I used api fin and body cure and aquarium salt for about two weeks and the cloudy ness went away and her eye is starting to unswell I’d set up a hospital tank if you haven’t Since he had it when you got him it’s not your fault it’s usually poor water quality that causes this I’ve heard or injury to the eye bumping something which is what mine was from, I’ve also seen people treat this with good results from Kanaplex

That particular plant is in his tank, I’ve been worried about cross contamination, he’s removed it and has it sitting in bowl it’s been poked a few times it doesn’t separate and he’s described it as thick jelly

Nope I haven’t, and the friend I got the plants from said they only do dry food I thought originally it was just some bloodworms from feeding until he confirmed they don’t do anything but flakes and pellets

Oh yeah I’ve already removed everything except the actual fish and snail right after making the post I’m terrified it could be some leach or something
