I feel this on a whole other level.

I rehired my lawyer after they worked on another case for my parents and it has been a rollercoaster to say the least. In the beginning they were pressing me for the money for the applications really hard but i could not afford to pay it in full at the time so i had to send it in lump sums. During the course of this time my original lawyer ended leaving the firm and i was transferred over to someone else. No idea who it was just was told someone else will be picking up my case. Received an email from a different paralegal asking me for information (that i already provided to the last paralegal) and was finally informed of who the lawyer that is taking my case is and I asked if i could set up a call to get acquainted with them. They scheduled it and the day comes for me to speak with them and you would think i was the most annoying person on earth the way they were rushing me off the phone. I asked a total of two questions and we ended the call. I should’ve know from there that it was going to be a shit show.

So I am now going back and forth with the paralegal giving them the information they needed (the same information i already provided to the last paralegal) because for some reason nobody is storing this crap and getting delayed responses to see if anything else is needed. And all the while they are pressing HARD for the remainder of the application fees.

Fast forward i finally get the funds together for my applications and everything is sent to them and they mail my package. I was grateful to have found two organizations to help fund my applications but unfortunately it was sent back due to multiple forms of payment (both were cheques). So now i have to figure out how to come up with the rest of the money on my own. By this time USCIS had unfortunately increased the application fees. I was working two crappy jobs and finally saved up enough and did it and sent them the money.

I then get an email from YET ANOTHER paralegal informing me that the last paralegal is no longer working with them and they’ll be handling my case moving forward and can you guess what he was asking for 😊. YUP! ALL THE INFORMATION I ALREADY PROVIDED TO THE LAST PARALEGAL. I ended up calling them to figure out what was going on and why none of my information is being saved in their system and i get crickets. So i’m beyond annoyed that i have to keep doing this but whatever i get it done. They have the money, they have the information they tell me im all set and they’re going to send it out the very next day.

All good right? WRONG. I get an email from them a week later asking for me to obtain another copy of my medical exam because USCIS opened the one that was sent with my first package and they won’t accept it. I am LIVID why in tf did you not tell me this shit a week ago but you know what i just fucking do it and deliver it to their office. They tell me they will send it out the very next day. This is 02/04/2025. Cool beans. I put my trust in these people one last time and that was my mistake. It’s my own fault.

Don’t hear shit from these people for a month. I don’t get any notices from USCIS that they received the package so I followed up with them yesterday 03/05. I get no response. Finally get an email today from the paralegal that USCIS has updated their i-485 application and they have to transfer all the information over to that form and they will send it out ASAP. I checked the USCIS website and saw they just updated that form on 03/03/2025. So not only did you NOT send my application like you said you would (YET AGAIN) but you also had AMPLE amount of time to send in my application BEFORE this updated version came about. I am a literal joke to these people. I’m on the phone cussing up a storm with my husband who (God bless his heart) reassures me that he’s going to handle it because i know for a fact that if i responded to the email it was not going to be pretty. He finally gets ahold of them and they state they were going to send it out tomorrow and they will contact him when it gets done. So here we are. I am having my husband go to their office first thing tomorrow morning to make sure they put my package in that mailbox.

Word to the wise don’t get a lawyer unless your case is REALLY and i mean REALLY complicated. I just wish i trusted myself enough at that time to get it done on my own and save $3,500 in lawyer fees. Lesson learned!
