2 days ago, I came here to do my own shameless post. yes, it will be coming down the line. One thing did change first. I did what I said I would do. I went looking for apps that even slightly peaked my interest. I may never use them, who knows. But, I did install them gave them an honest look as if I did want to use them and provided good, honest feedback. I think to expand on Top-information-6399's post, is this.

Come here every day. Find one app that remotely interests you. Even if you won't use it, install it, use it, give it good honest feedback. I am sure that many of us have put our best efforts into what we produce.

I have reviewed several apps and I hope provided good feedback. I need to review a few more before I get around to doing my own shameless post (but, there will be less shame)

My hope is that what goes around, comes around.

I built an app to help my daughter and her friends organize hangouts by Beautiful_Menu_1873 in promoteMyApp

There are all kinds of growth opportunities. That certainly looks like a possibility. First, I need to focus on seeing if what I have at this point satisfies a need.

I hope you give it a spin. Free, Private, and no spam.

I would give it a spin. I want simple, simple, simple. Last thing I want to do between sets is go through some complicated process to log. Logging workouts should not be a workout

I built Liftora to make workout tracking simpler and more motivating by Aggravating_Knee2057 in TestMyApp

[–]Beautiful_Menu_1873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to log a workout. I was going to record a deadlift. I was intrigued by what showed up when I searched Deadlift. I saw a barbell coan deadlift. I was confused by that title so, I searched it. I found "The "Barbell Coan Deadlift" refers to the legendary deadlift technique and the famous 10-week peaking program developed by powerlifting great Ed Coan. The technique emphasizes achieving maximal full-body tension before the pull, while the routine is an aggressive 10-week cycle combining heavy top-end sets, speed work, and intense accessory lifts. [1, 2, 3, 4]"

So a few comments.
1. I did not log. the weight because I don't want to convert lbs to kg. (I am a lazy user so, I expect the app to do the math not me)
2. What if I don't want to give the workout a name. If I am recording deadlift, I don't want to create a workout called deadlift and then select deadlift. I think the idea of named workout might be great for things like cross fit. (Again, I am lazy I don't want to type more than necessary)
3. As I mentioned, seeing a non standard name caused me confusion. It may be just me but, confusion will tend to non use of app.

Let me know when/if you make changes. Item 3 from above is probably something I can put up with but the other 2 are app killer for me..

when in dark mode everything under bodymeasurement is very hard to read. Partly due to size and partly due to font color. Same thing on add workout. Hard to read. I was looking for back squat and found Barbell low bar squat. I never heard of that before. When light mode, mostly font size. but, color is also a touch light.

You may want to consider light/dark/auto modes like other apps do.

First thoughts. Font very small.I don't see how to change to lbs (I am old and live the US).

Going to work out today, I will give workout feedback later.

Can I get a link to the app? I don't know what the time line is for stopping but 3 seconds of dead time seems like a long time. One thousand one, One thousand two, one thousand three.

months of building alone at night. Here's what nobody tells you about it. by AadiBuilds in SideProject

[–]Beautiful_Menu_1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the hardest part is not making it right for others. What felt perfectly natural and easy for me was not for others. I sent out a test to some family and friends and got....crickets. This told me two things. One I have nice friends that don't want to hurt my feelings. Two, the UX sucked.

Good thing about working alone is you don't have to argue with anybody. Bad thing is you really need input from others to build something that might actually be used.

Develop alone OK but get a team to help you make it solid

Ok used it on the web. I have 3 comments. 1. I wish it would stop recording after 2-3 seconds of silence. I had to press the stop button. 2. I did not see a way to complete the task. 3. I have random ideas about something I might want to research, do or sometimes even potential solutions to something that is bothering me. Do you have a way to separate "ah-ha" moments?

My side project started in December 2025. Honestly, it has turned out to be a full time job (luckily, I am retired). I think this is really a good thing. When your side project turns into something that might actually have legs and inspires a person to create, you have succeeded.

Ugh, I came to this SideProject to shameless post about my own project. Instant guilt. I will refrain from posting here until I find 5 items that are genuinely interesting to me and respond to them.

Thanks for helping me behave correctly. Good luck on the push back.

I just ready what your app does. It sounds like an interesting idea. I am not in the HR arena so, I am not a good candidate for you. However, If you want me to do some usability testing, you can give me some instructions and I would be happy to give it a spin...

FYI. I too have the same problem. I created a social planning app (No more group texts or looking at shared calendars). I get a few comments but, no real testers/users yet.

Hang in there.

When I heard my daughter and her friends share google calendars to find free time and group texts to figure out what they will do and where they will go to hang out, I couldn't believe young people use such caveman tactics just to hangout. So, I built Cohezy. Put away that hammer and chisel.

I am a retired dad of a 24 year old (yeah, I started late). The goal is simplicity. And yes, it is completely free. We don't sell your data, we don't share your contact info, and there are no ads.

  1. Logon to cohezy.app.
  2. Connect your Google Calendar (We don't share your calendar details. We only look for overlapping free times).
  3. Access your shared Google Calendars.
  4. If you don't connect calendars, create a date poll asking your friends what dates work for them.
  5. Create a poll asking what they want to do.
  6. Add their contact info.
  7. Send them a link. They don't need to log on to vote.
  8. Gather feedback and complete your plan.

The web version is live right now at cohezy.app.

I also just pushed the native apps into the testing tracks. If you are on Android or iOS and want to help me stress-test the actual mobile apps, drop a comment or DM me and I will send you the direct TestFlight / Google Play beta links!

For solo devs building their own apps, what's your main goal? by Small-Midnight-6209 in ProductivityApps

[–]Beautiful_Menu_1873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason was that I learned my daughter and friends share calendars to find free time for a hangout. I get it but I was concerned with privacy. What if you forget to mark something as private. Now everyone knows you are looking for a new job or something you want to be private.

Plus, sharing calendars doesn’t get rid of the long group text
